back in the gym now, been 3 weeks. before that i was weight training somewhat consistently, and put on a fair bit of size. My cardio is what id describe as pretty poor atm.
My last fight was nov 2010. I was 16 almost 17. Weighed 61kg (132lbs). Now Im 21 and I'm walking around at about 178lbs. I'm between 5''8-9 not sure exactly.
Anyway in my time off boxing i abused my body. Badly. I was smoking cigarettes majority of the time, smoked weed HEAVILY and was a frequent user of ecstasy and methamphetamine.
Ive still got my skills there, my fitness feels OK for the moment but i know there ****loads of work to be done. I went for a 25 min run today (my first proper run since beginning training again) and i was huffing and puffing pretty bad and it was damn hard although it was fkn hot too. I have been off the cigarettes 3 weeks, and before that i was only smoking for a couple weeks after quitting for 2 months. So my lungs should be recovering or well on the way to doing so.
Anyway sorry for the rant lads but do the educated people here think i will be ready for a fight around October? Im gonna be in the gym 5 days per week and running regularly, fully ready to push myself and get back in there.
I know it all comes down to how i feel fitness-wise but I'm just looking for some outside opinions.
By the way i had 21 amateur fights, record of 13-8 I'm fairly sure. (i had exhibitions also and my memory isn't the best so yeah) i won a couple of state and regional titles and all my losses were close 1 point split decision kind of deals, except for two where i lost convincingly to dudes who went on to rep at olympics etc. I also often gave away weight in many of my fights. I did tons of hard competition sparring with good fighters so its almost like I've had 30 odd fights instead of 20. Jmo. Just trying to give you guys a picture of my ability. Im only modestly talented speed/power wise i would say but my fundamentals are solid and i have a tight joshua clottey style defence.
