  • Tired before going to the gym ?

Hey so I have this problem that when I go to the gym at like 5 pm.. I'm already tired/sleepy from doing stuff in the day..

Is there anything you guys do to give you some energy before working out ? I try to eat more carbs for lunch and an apple like an hour before I go and when I come back, I eat dinner and drink a protein shake.

I was looking into making like a shake of milk/banana/oatmeal and maybe some other carb stuff while before I go. But I'm not sure if it would help. Any similar experiences ? What if I put a scoop of whey protein with it. Hmmm.. Haha thanks.

Why not just drink a energy drink or energy shot before you're about to go. Or try to build a small sweat if you live somewhere where it's hot around this time. Eating isn't going to necessarily wake you up. You need a boost an instant boost to get you going.

But if you truly want to go to the gym and you tell yourself you do, you shouldn't be as tired. It seems as if you may be forcing yourself to go which would cause most to lag. I work a labor job all day and still try to make it to the gym because I want to go. At times changing your mental thinking of it can provide energy in itself.

I got the same problem, hard to train after work if your last big meal was at lunch.

1-2 hours before it's go time. You're going to want a meal with everything - slow release carbs, protein, fat. This might not make you feel like you're bursting with energy but performance wise it should help a tonne. Shake idea is pretty good, heaps of options really, I'd add some almonds as well.

If you want to feel energised then you could get a pre-workout supplement (jack3d, craze etc), they definitely work but have side effects for some - I can't sleep after the ****. Tread lightly and do your own research if interested.

What i've just started doing is taking a caffeine tablet (super cheap) before training. I've cut all other caffeine (no coffee, tea, coke, energy drinks). This makes it a lot more effective. If you already eat/drink a lot of caffiene it won't do much.

So this afternoon i'll rush home have some oats-toast-poached eggs-almonds and a caffeine tablet. Idea being the caffeine will give me a boost, food will give me the slow energy release to keep me going.

stay away from those energy drinks and the pills, they are garbage and you don't need them.

I used to drink V-8 for energy, natural energy, about 1/2 hour to 15 minutes before workouts. It always did me fine.

90% of your fatigue is probably mental. Once you open your mind to allow your body to show you what it can really do you'll see what I mean and you'll be amazed.

when I fought from 14-19 I worked 20-40 hrs a week, went to school and went to boxing. 5 days a week. And I'd fit the running in too when needed. Make the mind strong and your body will easily follow.........Rockin'

Those drinks work for me. Haha. To each their own on how their body works. But most is mental like I told him earlier.

i try to not drink the energy drinks/ shots either, they only dehydrate me and then ill crash when it wears off anyway. sometimes before a like 40 or so minutes before i go ill take a scoop of some jacked 3d or whatever my roomate has, if anything the placebo of it helps on days i feel burnt out.

i also work at a nightclub though and the hours are ****ing murderous for boxing 9pm-3am, especially with me going to school 5 days a week as well, you just have to adjust your schedule accordingly. i personally do my roadwork at 3am right when i get home from work, helps me to unwind for the night as well and get to bed. man to be honest, your going to be tired alot of times while going to the gym, boxing is ridiculously exhausting both physically and mentally.

You should be so excited to go to the gym that the rush you feel 'knowing that its 5pm and time to work' keeps you awake.

                  (are you getting enough sleep?)

People dont like the NO boosters but they always worked for me... if you are looking for some carbs and protein before lifting you could get muscle milk which has both and drink it about an hour before working out
