Whatever gets you in the gym... In a perfect world you shouldn't have to take caffiene or a carb or sugar boost and that should be your goal.. but if its the choice of taking a "No Doze" and working out or taking a nap or your couch... Take the boost.

I got through my schedule with no boosters except for the V-8 which is natural. If you must pop pills I would go with one ginsing capsule before you go to school and one about an hour before the gym. Stay clear of those energy drinks and caffeine pills, they are straight garbage......Rockin'

Is there anything you guys do to give you some energy before working out ? I try to eat more carbs for lunch and an apple like an hour before I go and when I come back, I eat dinner and drink a protein shake.

I was looking into making like a shake of milk/banana/oatmeal and maybe some other carb stuff while before I go. But I'm not sure if it would help. Any similar experiences ? What if I put a scoop of whey protein with it. Hmmm.. Haha thanks.
You're not going to believe me, but: You should see a Doctor.

I used to go to the gym 5 days a week. Then I started to slack. I thought I was just being lazy. But bloodtests showed I was anemic. Which is why I was so ***** tired and irritable all the time.

Our ancestors farmed and worked hard as hell ALL DAY. So for you to be tired by 5pm isn't really normal.

Consider Floyd and Manny bust ass 4 hours a day and they're fine.

there are plenty of things other than dehydration that will cause you to become fatugued, ray.

true but you've got to at least try and go with the most obvious possibilities first, no?

Especially when alot of the "solutions" given are products that would dehydrate you further.

1-2 hours before it's go time. You're going to want a meal with everything - slow release carbs, protein, fat. This might not make you feel like you're bursting with energy but performance wise it should help a tonne. Shake idea is pretty good, heaps of options really, I'd add some almonds as well.

If you want to feel energised then you could get a pre-workout supplement (jack3d, craze etc), they definitely work but have side effects for some - I can't sleep after the ****. Tread lightly and do your own research if interested.

What i've just started doing is taking a caffeine tablet (super cheap) before training. I've cut all other caffeine (no coffee, tea, coke, energy drinks). This makes it a lot more effective. If you already eat/drink a lot of caffiene it won't do much.

So this afternoon i'll rush home have some oats-toast-poached eggs-almonds and a caffeine tablet. Idea being the caffeine will give me a boost, food will give me the slow energy release to keep me going.
ive noticed that when i eat bigger lunches i have less energy (especially if its meat incolved), i dont know what it is, the second half of my work day is sluggish and i just dont feel like working out when i get home. so i eat small during the day, then at lunch i have a green smoothie or a salad, this gives me more energy, i have no idea why.

also before workouts drink lemon and cayenne pepper with water it give me a boost! WHATS THE NAME OF THE CAFFEIENE TABLET?

Vivarin is one (if they still make it) and "No Doze" is another. Be careful though, they can make you feel sick and unfortunately because of their high caffein volumn, you won't be able to sleep it off.

Yeah man you're right, a huge (hot) lunch time meal sends me to sleep to. By "Big" i ment more proper whole foods.

Where a good meal before hand will is 1hr+ in to your training you will have a lot more energy than if you had some high sugar foods which would make you feel great at the start and then crash.

                      anyway thats what i've found.
