      Honestly, no!

Covering under 8 miles in 100 minutes works out at a pace of slower than 12.5 minutes per mile, which is pretty damn slow. I know ladies in their 40s who can run 10 miles at under 7 minute per mile pace locally.

But dont be discouraged, its great that you're getting out and working towards getting fit with a military future ahead. Its very patriotic.

You will be pushed to your physical limits training to be a marine, I wouldn't even consider applying until you can run at least 8 miles to the hour.

The more miles you cover, the fitter you'll become. Best of luck Marine.....

Yeah, I understand that running is not my strongest point. I am a little overweight but the Marines on my local recruiting station are helping me a lot.
I honestly jog the 7 miles. I can run a 1.5 miles (running) in less than 5 minutes. But I'm doing it to loose some weight and build some endurance. Thanks for your opinion, I highly appreciate it.

It's quite bad if I am being honest, considering the average human walks at 5mph.

Haha now I know you are trolling considering a 4 minute mile is pretty close to olympic standards.

Usain Bolt runs 0.25 miles in about 43 to 45 seconds. And you claim you could run 1.25 miles more than him in less than 15 more seconds?

i have a hard time believing that

Yea, it looks like you made an error on your 1.5 mile running time. 10 minutes for 1.5 miles would be a competent time. Alternatively 0.15 mile in under a minute would sound right for you.

But hell, your being helped by the local marine recruiting station, they'll show you the right direction with your running. Just remember that you dont get instantaneous results with running, but stick with it and keep a diary of how many miles you cover a week. The more miles, the easier it becomes. Remember too, you're young.....I know people who have taken up running in their 40s and have reached elite level locally, you've got plenty of time.

A good endurance base will certainly help your marine training......

You need to work more on your running. If I were you I'd add sprinting to your regimen. That always help you to run faster and not to mention it aids your aerobic capacity and vice versa. I don't know exactly the PT requirments are in the Marine Corps but you need to at least cover 2.5 miles in under 3 minutes or something along those lines.
