just saying that heavy weights work your fast twitch muscles more then slow twitch and due to the explosive nature of fast twitch you are much more likely to cause micro tears in the fast twitch when lifting heavy weights which inturn causes hypertrophy causing you to increase the muscle mass ratio of fast twitch to slow twtich.

and that due to over powering your slow twitch muscles your ability to perform fine motor skills deminishes, thus making you either slower or worse technically.

in the end your almost making your self worse with lifting weights twice a week. but of course i dont know what your routine is so our definition of lifting might be two diffrent things.

personally id say that those 30-45 mins twice a week would be much better spent doing plyo's like jump squats depth jumps clap pushups medicin ball slams, ect...though that might be what your allready doing.

try blocking imaginary punches then try blocking actuall punches thrown at half speed. if you notice your alot slower blocking the real punches then how fast you know you can block imaginary punches then cut back on the weights.

This proves strength training will improve and not hinder boxing perfomance.

I don't train excessively. I weight train about 1 1/2 hours per week, therefore do not impare speed. If I trained 4/5 days a week it would. And Ross is a well known trainer with World Champions under his belt.

I know nothing about MMA, nothing at all. And whoever posted that training ahs to last longer to be better, is an idiot!

Based on your sparring video on Youtube I seriously doubt it. Look how squared up you are, slow, plodding & lazy whilst the much smaller black guy (Ashley Hill) is using a shell-defence just toying with you.

You appear to of been training maybe 3 months max.

Sparring is about learning. Tuck your chin in, pull your jab back to your face - not to your waist! Stop lifting your back leg everytime you throw a straight right, everytime you dip to your left - he's landing his right hook yet you keep doing it!
Look how relaxed your partner is compared to you, loosen up & stop letting the smaller guy turn you with such ease.

Don't mean to sound harsh but I just wish you'd stop copy & pasting silly articles & making out you're this & that when you're clearly a novice with a deluded ego.
Keep training hard & learn from your mistakes.

Ross whatever his name is is nothing but a personal trainer that feeds the gullible any old **** in hope they buy his products (silly DVD's etc)
You seem to work for the guy or something.

I don't get how he can say his workouts/routines are effective when he's never boxed or trained anybody in his life.
It's like a champion swimmer that never got in a pool.

Can you link me to any fighters he's worked with? He's like some jock that works in the supplement industry. Will tell you anything & copy numerous myths & bits of assorted info just so you hand over your hard earned cash.

besides the fact your sparring video was garbage. the guy that was beating you was garbage. you numbers suck. you havent been doing this **** long enough to come on here and ***** and moan. come back when you deadlift 500 lbs, squats 335, bench 295 at 5 lbs less than you weigh. you wont care what ppl say at that point.

I'm not asking anyone to get on their knees for ross. if you dont like his workouts, cool. but if you understand human anatomy and functional( not just crossfit) workouts, you would know that ross preaches the truth. **** this guy never deadlifted in his life, trained it for a week and was hitting over 400lbs. 2 months later he posted a vid he added over 100 lbs. his site is more for S&C anyways he preaches being in a real boxing gym, not trying to learn online. dont slander dudes name he has helped a ****load of people including myself i can imagine whered id be if i hadnt found rossboxing 6 years ago.
