  • Can I build bulk to my legs with a stationary bike?

I have a annoying problem with one of my IT bands and cant do squats and lunges without irritating my leg. I can ride a bike. So i was wondering if i buy a good quality stationary bike can it not only help my cardio but build good size to my legs? Also,Recumbent bike or upright stationary bike?

    Your input is valuable!

I ride a regular bike a lot and I've got tree trunk legs that never get tired in boxing. So I guess yes.

hmm.. well i think theoretically it could be possible to ride your bike in intervals (like running hard sprints). so u set the bike on a high level of intensity and then u ride it real hard for like a couple of minutes, then set it to easy and ride easy for a while, then go hard on a high level of intensity again.

so turn the knob on the bike all the way to the other side, ride really hard for like 5 minutes, then ride a relaxing ride.. and do it over for like 5-10 times, increasing the times of hard biking.

but that does provide a lot of pressure on your IT bands, could cause more irritation.

I think what you have is a muscle inbalnce (between your hamstrings and quads) and thats promotes alot of injuries and discomfort you should check out for that first....

                    no.

hes saying that you do something too much and it leaves you with one muscle many times stronger then another muscle. because of the diffrence in the strength of the muscles your left with leg pain.

something like cycling might help with the inbalance strengthening muscles that you dont use as much.
