  • Im opening a Boxing Gym would like some ideas please

Hi Guys, basically im opening a boxing gym and im just after your input really since most of you guys box. It can be absolutely anything at all. APART FROM THE OBVIOUS PLEASE. is there any specific equipment/things you would really like in your boxing gym. Im looking for things say other gyms lack, things there arent enough of, equipment there is not enough variety of, classes, events, hygiene, space restrictions etc.. absolutely anything that pleases/annoys you about any boxing gym. Plus what little things make/would make your gym experience better.

Please note: this will be a boxing gym, however it will also have a free weights/machine and cardio areas for the 'regular' gym user.

    Many thanks in advance guys!

I Appreciate All Your Feedback Cheers!

        Oh gosh okay

please hve enough bags. I hate having to share a bag. Have a variety of bags. A REAL double end bag. Not those fake everlast ones with a base. A power tower would be nice maybe even a couple of them. A real weight scale that is accessible to everyone. That's it for now

most important have good coaches lol thats key for sure....it all depends on what ur tryna do...if ur tryna find hardcore boxers and NOT make a ton of money thats one direction....if ur tryna jus find the people interested in boxing or the people who enjoy boxing for the conditioning etc and want to make decent money...well thats a diff route alltogether....u would set up ur gym differently for both

Ok basically the aim of the gym is to attract and train the best boxers in the local area, so the gym will be a boxing gym. However in order to appeal to a wider audience i will also have a free weights/machine area and a cardio area to cater for the regular gym user who cant afford a 12 month contract or who wants to go to a 'real' gym.

i think if you are aiming to attract the best/hardcore boxers in the area, you should separate the session times between hardcore and the casual/cardio members

                for example:8am-4pm casual/cardio members
                5pm-close hardcore

I know what ur saying but what are your reasons for saying this. Im anticipating most casual gym goers would be too intimidated to go to a boxing gym anyway, if they did im not expecting huge numbers. Im hoping everyone can work together. The emphasis i want to create is that the gym is open to everybody, anytime. I would like to get 'casuals' into boxing too. They pay the bills at the end of the day.

Get plenty of speed bags. If you can, try to get more than one ring. I hate waiting for someone to get finished to start sparring. I might be warmed up and ready to go but the ring is already in use. Make sure there's plenty of space and mirrors for the shadow boxing. I think having a separate area for cardio/weights/machines is a smart thing to have. Try to get up to date equipment also. Stuff you would see in a fitness gym.
