  • Money may all natural strength

Money Mayweather just confirmed today that he doesn't lift weights. If you listen to his NYC presser he said he does bodyweight stuff. Makes him perform better, react better. "All natural strength" is what he said.

Weights is 1980s old school stuff. The most advanced athletes use bodyweight only.

Weights cause injuries and wreck your joints.

Tell that to Georges St. Pierre, Usain Bolt, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Pac, Hopkins, Tyson, pretty much every NFL Player etc.

Just because he is successful using bodyweight exercises doesn't mean everyone will be.

Plus Mayweather never beat anyone because of a "strength" advantage so really what he's saying means close to nothing

Man, it seems like this argument just never goes away. I wont get back into this like before. Wasted all my energy on it last time. Lol.

But I will say that weights and body weight exercises are both great tools if used correctly. The muscle and fitness magazines wont teach you how to lift right, and really will probably mess up your body. Did it to many back in the day. But there are other ways to use weights. Weights make up or are incorporated into maybe 30% of my workout. The rest is endurance, body weight conditioning, plyos, heavy bag and sparring. I know longer have joint problems.

One of the great uses of weights is for rehab, if you can't lift your body weight. Right now I have a seperated rib and I can't even do a crunch. But I can get on the girly fitness crunch machine in my gym and use much less weight to get blood flowing to that area and speed up healing.

Plus don't forget that some bodyweight exercises can be harder on the body than weights. I messed up my shoulder once doing hand stand shoulder press with a wall. Much safer to do shoulder press with less than my body weight on a bar bell.

Pac man has used weights, bernard hopkins, mike tyson and even older power punching legend ernie shavers. Try to tell me these guys are not advanced boxers. So don't be to quick to dismiss them. Just one more tool to make an athlete.

you mean the guy that pretends to stand up for the first 30 seconds, takes opponent down, and lay and prays until the bell rings for 5 rounds?

I didn't know you were required to stand-up in MMA. Hmmm and if GSP is a LnP fighter, what does that make Jon Fitch, Sean Sherk, Mike Pierce, Dan Severn.

LOL you don't know what you are talking about.

Don't I know you from somewhere? MMAforum.com perhaps? I remember the name and a Pac avatar over there....

Mayweather still didn't win that fight because of superior strength.

The only lifting I saw Ricky doing was leg presses, Leg Presses are useless to a fighter. Try again, sir.

                useless exercises= useless strength.

Drew Brees only uses bodyweight exercises, it's called the TRX

                  search it on youtube

Brandon Vera also uses the TRX bodyweight routine

Pretty much all QB's use BW exercises or suspension trainers. They have no real necessity for weight training.

Brandon Vera sucks, so what he uses is irrelevant.

Just kidding but Vera is sponsored by TRX but he does use weights or at least uses some traditional strongman training methods.
