Using boxing to defend yourself

His brain won't shut down and go into panic mode once he tastes his own blood or gets the wind knocked out of him. He won't flinch away from an incoming blow; he'll slip it or block it. And most importantly, he WILL hit back. And it will hurt.
A bouncer friend of mine says, "I could take a boxer. I sure wouldn't want to, though."
but getting into fights in the street without a weapon is like getting caught with your pants down.

i had to put my boxing to the test Saturday night after some twat put a pint glass over my mates head. The second i stepped back into a boxing stance the guy looked a bit wary and after throwing 4 punches it was all over. So to answer your question, it comes in very handy!

Of course it gives you an advantage. Im not a fighter but i sure as hell know fight just by watching boxing! A few weeks back some ******* decided to start and we ended up trading, wasn't long before i got the better of him with the more crisp punches! Street fighters generally go all out and have no idea how to punch you, with knowing a little boxing defensively you've always got the advantage to avoid punches. Defensively at range your always giving yourself the upper hand! Most street fighters tend to throw wild looping punches over the top, everybody who knows there boxing knows that straight punches is the deal in street fights!!
