    Using boxing to defend yourself

I mean, has anyone actually done this, like outside the ring?

I don't mean starting fights, but I mean as a self defence mechanism if a fight was to arise. Does boxing help you get an advantage? Does it work?

    Discuss.

PS: I know there's a thread about streetfighting, but this is different. This is about using the techniques learnt in boxing to everyday situations.

I feel unstoppable because of boxing

I have used my skills outa the ring and broken many noses and jaws.. lol

Yeah, usually works quite well. If you fight at a higher weight you can actually lay guys out cold in the street with a single punch or two. And even the lighter guys can still **** dudes up pretty easy.

Yes obviously as it means you know how to both punch and block effectively. Since street fights can often be decided by who lands the first big shot, then definatly boxing is useful.

It helps, but I dont rely on it entirely. I will still eye poke, nut kick and headbutt a motherfucker.

Yeah same here, for some reason i have not had any problems with anybody since I got in boxing, every now and then when i go out for guys night out to play pool I wish some **** would go down but nope, not a damn thing! Im better off like this though i think I would hurt somebody bad, and these days the last thing you need is a law suit against you, but I would say definitely, boxing helps very much in a fight!

without gloves you can throw crazy fast combos, and you can slip a punch better since fists are smaller than gloves!

Yeah deffinitley helps, Had the first amateur fight in ring and its so different to a street fight, I avoid fights in the street, but if im pushed Ill throw, ive hurt people pretty easy, face it, if you know how to hold your hands, throw punches and counter punch you will own anyone who doesnt have experience..
but if the court finds out u train as a boxer ur ****ed!
