        so what your saying is like there are slow twitch muscle fibers and fast twitch muscle fibers and like a boxer trains his slow twitch fibers to be extreamly fast. so not only does he have the endurance from the slow twitch due to all the extra myoglobin but by constantly doing the same thing over again and perfecting all the movements in coralation with everything the pure boxer builds up the speed of his slow twitch fibers. where as some one that just lifts weights builds fast twitch fibers that have speed but not the endurance not to mention that since they dont really spend hours doing the same moves over and over again they barely have the same speed as someone thats done pure boxing exercises to increase speed and endurance even though their fast twitch fibers should be able to move faster.

        or did you mean like if your spending an hour lifting weights thats like 3 hours you could be sparring running hitting the bag mits jumping ropes and shadow boxing?

        any ways i disagree with the light curls unless your talking like the weight of a glove light theres really no need to build up your bicep since its not really lifting anything heavier then your arm. on the other hand weighted neck exercises and shrugs can be helpful. i guess you could do curls if you want to completely pwn any one in the clinches.

          i can not think of one world champ that has gone via the weight lifting route to enhance his chance at being a champ,weight lifting has nothing to offer to a boxer,hence a good boxer will not strain himself via the barbell routine,to try and incline the body leverage that cannot and will not sustain a pounding of a pugilist via the old school training regime that has thus far proven that a dumbell does not belong in the ring

            You need to stop living in the barn from Rocky IV and get with the program. Those days are gone.

            Most professional athletes in any sport lift weights.

            I'm an NSCA-certified personal trainer. Even professional golfers lift weights these days -- they may not bodybuild or powerlift, but they certainly strength train. I promise you that professional athletes in every sport lift weights for strength training. ****ing curling teams and crew teams lift weights.

            Boxers have a reputation to uphold as being "old school." Just because you don't see them lifting weights on YouTube or just because they say on TV that they don't lift weights, doesn't mean they don't lift weights.

            If you box, you're a moron if you don't lift and supplement. Period. Boxing is the most physically tasking sport in the world, and this is the 21st Century. Advances in sport science, nutrition, and physiology make it impossible to remain competitive in any sport these days unless you keep up with the science. Steak, pasta, and jump rope won't cut it anymore.

                He asked about losing weight, not boxing.

                Key phrase "I believe", ie. not fact but your opinion. Also a ******ed unfounded opinion as I think you'll find the majority of successful boxers lift weights. Funnily enough curls are one of the worst exercises you can perform in boxing training, yet you say it's the only one permitted.
