Thanks for atleast taking the time to reply I guess. I learned how to shoot a basketball, but I was never instructed by a coach and I first tried out for the team in 9th grade and made the schools top team, and again in high school. I learned how to lift using proper form, only having myself in a basement with a video camera and the powerlifting coach says my form is as good as people who have been training for two years. Im sure I can learn some things about boxing. Before I go to a boxing gym. I guess we'll just have to see what happens... If I can put endless amount of reading hours and practice into weightlifting and basketball. I know I can make some small steps towards boxing.

Do I also need to mention that I was a National Battam Bowler, Using my own un-orthodox techniques at rolling a bowling ball. I don't need you guys telling me what I can or can't achieve without the guidance of a coach with me in person. But I do know I will eventually not get far without one. But I can set the building blocks with worth ethic and learning the basics that I can practice and critique before the time comes.

I have to laugh at the idea of traveling two hours to go to a boxing gym with no money and expect to be trained, travel two hours back, weight lift, shower, and still make high academics in school and eat... Anyways

You ask for input and advice, and I give you the best advice you are going to get. Goto a gym, you are your worst trainer, plain and simple. Then you respond back with silly arrogant statements.

I have probably more experience then 95% of the people on these forums. I've fought on the national level since I was 12 years old. I've trained and sparred with former world champions. I've been to PROFESSIONAL training camps.

You want to learn at home? I am sure there are tons of little DVD's you can watch that will give you basic examples. However, soon as you step into a gym, the coach is going to tell you that you are doing everything wrong.

Don't be so arrogant to say you are sure you can do the work out. A real boxing workout is the hardest workout of any sport.

Get to a gym, spar, and see if you still want to box. You can't coach yourself. Waste of time. Boxing is about sacrifices, and those sacrifices include driving places, not going out with friends, not drinking, and other unpleasant things

I been fighting since I was 8, and in the gym since I was born(Entire family is boxing orientated). I really do not remember my amature record, but I had around 70ish fights and 6 losses(Although I was robbed 4 of them, GG amature hometown judging). I didn't lose a fight until I had over 30 wins and I was in the finals of the national PAL tournament. Beat the **** out of the kid, yet they gave it to him. Crowd boo'd and I had a few trainers come up to me telling me if I was ever in the area to come to their gym.

Very impressive. You gone pro now or what?

Yeah, robberies are ****. Even in the short time I've been competing as a boxer, I've already seen way too many. I haven't really been on the end of a straight up robbery (few I thought I won but got given to the other kid) but I'm fighting in South Australia on the 1st which is meant to be pretty bad for home town decisions, so I'll probably need to turn in a top performance to win that one on points, sometimes even that isn't enough lol, One time I seen a guy just wail on this kid for 3 rounds, like just bash him, and lose a 7:4 points decision It was a national final too, so it was pretty bad

listen to these guys, boxing is a sport but its not a game.

you can play basketball but you can't play boxing.

you'll need the eyes of a qualified trainer to correct little things in your form, little things that could mean keeping your teeth or losing them, going blind in an eye or keeping your sight, being in a wheelchair or walking even life or death.

a trainer will get you on the pads where the worst you'll get is a smack from the pads if you **** up.

a trainer will correct you right there when you make a mistake, so you won't do it a 100 times and create a bad habit that will take years and alot of blood to get rid of.

if theres no gym in your area go to your local police station or fire department, if there are no current or former fighters there i bet they'll know where one is who might be willing to train you.

also keep in mind your starting very late. when my father started training me. i was 12 and every kid my age in the gym we trained at had been training for 5 or 6 years already.

it takes time i don't know how many ass whoppins' i took before i finally started slipping shots and feeling like i had one thing i could do well to build on.

i tell you though, its alot of fun, theres nothing more fun.

the best thing you can do right now if you cnt get to the gym yet is get up early in the morn and run a few miles every day. watch how the boxers in your vids move and punch, staring with your jab and try imitating a boxer on your bag, always keeping your stance! Its not gonna teach you much in the way of technique or make you realize if you can handle gettin ****** in the chops at times (thats only provided you can learn how to get your gloves up and move your head when you eventually get to the gym).

Point is if you do this at least when you get to the gym youll have a certain amount of fitness which is the second most important thing and you might have a little poise. The first most important thing being Guts and Heart!!!!!
