Its not gonna teach you much in the way of technique or make you realize if you can handle gettin ****** in the chops at times (thats only provided you can learn how to get your gloves up and move your head when you eventually get to the gym).
Point is if you do this at least when you get to the gym youll have a certain amount of fitness which is the second most important thing and you might have a little poise. The first most important thing being Guts and Heart!!!!!

it is difficult to be a boxer at your age,are you six foot six with your head in or out of your arse?if you go to a gym and they see you have punching power then maybe some one will train you,but from canada i dont think they have ever produced a good fighter,do you play hockey,or how about football dont they have a smaller version of the nfl

Give me a break lol. I bet if I changed my title to the post. Responses might be different. But you can never judge a book by the title of its story.
If you want to be a boxer you need to box, ie go to a boxing gym. If you try to start on your own you will most likely learn bad habits, so it isnt really something you can do on your own before you start. The best you can do is lots of cardio, situps, pushups, running etc before you start training at a gym, or find someone who has boxed for at least several years who can teach you the basic moves. If there isnt a gym close by, consider moving to a place that has a gym, or find someone in your town to help you out who is or was an experienced boxer with actual fight experience.

Where there's a will, there's a way. If you want to be successful at boxing you HAVE yo go to a boxing gym and get some private one on one instruction from a trainer. Put it this way, you will never become a great basketball player if you practice with a basketball, but never step foot on a basketball court.

I just wanna say if you want to be a heavyweight you do want to concentrate on the weights and strengh building cos your gonna be pretty frail compared to the rest if your a 210 pound 6 foot 6 heavy. If I were you tho Id stay just under the 200 pound mark and fight as a cruiser when you get around to it. just imagine how much height and reach youll have compared to the rest of the comp. Go get em tiger

Im interested in learning how to punch right, using the right footwork. Learning how to punch with both hands, working the bag effectively. I can post videos of myself doing this if some people wouldn't mind guideing me in the right direction, where to start and what not. (Not over doing it with cardio at the moment because too much will hinder with my weight training. Just learning the basics until I go to university next fall or the following where I will be much closer to the boxing school)
Im interested in watching boxing, but my lack of knowledge sometimes has me wondering if i'm actually watching a good fight,
Im a very bright lad who enjoys reading. So if there are any books you can recommend on learning about boxing. (:
But It can't be impossible for me to learn how to punch the bag correctly at this stage right?. I've made it clear that I will get to the gym when im at university and its more convient for me to go. You guys dont expect me to get up early, travel two hours, train for i dont know how many, travel back two hours, go to school, then lift weights. I never said I wanted to go to the gym right now. My dad bought a bag and I don't want it to go to waste when I can learn how to punch, move around the bag, bob and weave, stance. Or I think I should be trying to learn these things before I can step foot in a real gym. Maybe search around locally for someone who can help out.
Like I said, I can post videos, and have you guys critiquing it (since you have no problem critiquing my posts, videos should be much more fun :P). I know I can get the basics down before going to the gym. Then atleast I won't be a total noob, and the trainer can help make adjustments needed and I can move on from there where i'm able to spar and stuff.
Cept, most of you guys are writing me off and throwing me under the bus :P
