There is unbeaten featherweight prospect Carlos Zambrano, #1 JO amateur at 112 in the country Julian Rodriguez, so many guys at or around my size I could work with. If I can do well with them in sparring, the fights shouldn't be an issue.
Sparring and fighting are a lot more different than people think lol. Just because you do good in sparring doesn't mean you will perform well in a fight. You'll see what I mean when you get in there.

It's not always good to spar pros and experienced guys neither. You need to get in there with some kids in your weight class around your experience level too.

152 seems too heavy for someone who's about 5'6". You should definitely try to get down to 141 instead, Good Luck, Pinoy-Yank.

Yeah, true. Right now I'm trying to get into shape and get used to seeing punches coming at me and reacting. I've sparred maybe once in the last year so it's going to be tough in the early going. I figure the confidence will come from using the big gloves in sparring and the smaller ones in the ring. I probably won't put a pair of 10 ozs on until fight night.

I'm going to try and take a fight in January or February before the tournament to get some work in before.

I weighed myself today at 180 with full clothes, shoes and pockets with my wallet and phone in there and a big belt buckle. I'd say that'd put me in the high 160s or so. By March I should be 141 no problem now looking at my progress. I took off ten pounds in two weeks.

I hurt my left shoulder today, I seem to do it fairly often for some reason. Never have had a problem with my right. Coach said it's because I haven't trained like this before and it'll stop being a problem with time.

Still, I was pretty limited on the bag and had a hard time bringing my left back after I jabbed. My left hook was pretty much in the holster the whole time except for a few occasions. I jumped around to different bags to see what felt better, I settled on a softer bag.

I could only complete half of the throwing punches with five pound weights/alternating jumping jacks drill today, I felt like my arm was going to fall off. Thank God I have tomorrow off. Going to run and then rest tomorrow.

Don't throw with the weights (especially 5 lb). It'll **** up and stretch your tendons, and cause lower back probs. Caused me a lot of probs with the back last year before I figured out what it was, thru a sports doc, and eventually down time with physical therapist getting it sorted.

Yeah, i fought in the GG over here in Northern Cali. I wasn't fully prepared, i only had like 3 or 4 fights under my belt and i just joined a new camp. I lost my first fight. I wouldn't say i got whooped on. I only lost by 10 points or so. Next year ima take it. I want it.

Be careful with that shoulder, man. I had a friend who had a nagging shoulder problem and he kept sayin' the same thing, that it was nothing, but, one day it finally gave out during a tournament.

He got it checked out the next day and I don't know if it was an MRI or an X-ray or both, but they found out that he had ligament tears on 'em. So, that nagging pain or discomfort may lead to something more serious, it doesn't hurt to get it checked out. Better now than later.

If there really is something wrong, it is better to get minor treatment now, than having it become serious and you end up needing surgery and having to go through rehab, which will definitely push your "comeback plans" even farther.

Oh, and you mentioned that you're 180lbs. How tall are you?

BTW, Any news coming out of the PAC - Cotto camps? Are there really some friction between Roach and PAC or is it between Roach and Koncz ?
