  • 16 X 100 meter dash

This is called the Miami Mile. I’m sure it’s called some other things, but that’s what our high school football coach called it. It fu#king sucks so much.

It’s exactly how it sounds. It’s 100 meter dash at around 80% - 85% max speed for 16 reps. Equals 1600 meters, which is 1 mile. Hence the name “The Miami Mile.” I think it’s a well known conditioning workout in football, but can be used for many sports and I’m wondering if it could be used in boxing.

Maybe lengthen the distance and shorten the reps for boxing to simulate the work load of a round. Maybe instead of 100 meters at 80% - 85%, do a 400 meter dash at 80% - 85% for 4 rounds. Same distance, but the workload is altered. Or maybe change the number of reps for however many rounds the bout is, but keeping the overall distance and work rate of 80% - 85% max speed.

I gained more endurance doing sprints than running, but the best way to increase boxing stamina is to box.

Some trainers swear by road work.

        Sprints are good for boxers.

But longer distance runs are also necessary.

You can walk/jog between two telephone poles then sprint between the next two, and continue like that. Definitely has relevance to boxing stamina. Running up a hill then with a controlled descend repeated has always been a staple for football players. Knowing how to maximize catching your breathe is important.

You should see the rapid jogs I've done from some of the hacks I've met from Tinder.

Lol Let me guess… The first portion is like hurdles, avoiding a trip over anything and causing a crash. Then a sprint for dear life out the door in hopefully not the most obvious direction. A chance to catch your breathe behind a mail truck or similar. Then set in for a steady pace you can maintain till a real buddy is willing to answer the call and meet you somewhere. Neve stopping running mind you. Pray you didn’t leave anything behind.

Usually I tell them to meet me outside and ask what they are wearing, so I can scope across the street and then make a run for it if they weight 200 more than their photo

A well rounded approach is needed for boxing imo. Sprints days, Long Runs days, Prehab work days, and Rest days I believe is the optimal way to approach boxing training when it comes to cardio endurance and stamina, all is beneficial imo, personally for joe blow I will mainly just recommend sprints.
