The mechanics for a straight right to the body involve lowering your level. If you combine that with a slight lean forward you put more power into it, and if you use footwork to step in at the same time you get even more pop. If you just stay upright and stand in place then it's more of an arm punch.

No, I am still using my legs, shoulders and hip. An arm punch uses only the arm.Comment

I don't know about other fighters, I'm just explaining how I do it. To me you get more power by leaning in and putting your bodyweight into the punch.
Staying upright would have less power. But this way of doing it could have it's uses too.
