  • Am I skipping rope correctly?

I am finding that my heel comes close to the ground as I am skipping rope when I land. I am on the balls of my feet all the time and jumping, but after recording myself I noticed that my heel is close to the ground rather than raised high. I’m not flat footed, and my heel doesn’t touch the floor all the way but close, maybe an inch off the ground. Is this incorrect? Should my heels be up at all times like I’m wearing high heel shoes or can they be lower to the ground with the pressure in the balls of my feet?

    How much do you weigh?

I don’t claim to be an expert but keeping your heels from ****ing the floor and jarring your body seems like priority #1. By how much they are off the floor seems unimportant, at least to me. As long as your shocks aren’t bottoming out, it’s all good.

        I agree with this point.

Its better if your heel is closer to the ground, just make sure it wont touch it. Its better because the pressure on your foot will be evenly distributed. Whereas if it's high or you're tip toeing, 100% of 190lbs and the pressure of jumping will be on the balls of your feet. You keep doing this, there's this arch on top part of your foot that will protrude a bit and it really hurts... How did I know? Cus it happened to me, really painful

            Man, I suck at skipping.

No matter how much I practice, the rope always catches my shoes unless I really raise my legs up and look ridiculous and tire out cause of how high I'm jumping. Like it would make for a very comical video

I just want to be able to skip smoothly like the folks that make it look so effortless

Have you tried using different jump ropes?

Not yet, might be time to fork out some better cash and get the weighted one

Might be the length? That's why you're jumping... The recommended length is when you step on the middle with both feet, the handles should be above your armpit... Check out Floyd's videos, the ropes he's using are really long.

I'm really not sure. In fact I'm unsure of how I ended up at this part of the forum.

I'm obese and I do not exercise. I'd probably need an ambulance if I jogged a single city block.

How do I get out of here
