  • How Vital do you feel roadwork/running is in boxing?

Sme people say to me dont run as it ****s you back and knee's up. but i feel like ya need to do ya roadwork! its just a old school method that has worked for years. and i hate running machines.

just wanted to get your thoughts on roadwork?

Some form of cardio work is vital whether that be roadwork, treadmills, bikes, swimming or whatever. People who say roadwork ****s up your knees and back don't have proper running shoes

I got a 6-2 record without doing any serious running. Just ALOT of sparring, bagwork pads and cardio circuits. Had plenty of cardio in the gym.

I've recently started doing more running and after only a couple weeks I can already feel my cardio has gotten even better. I don't get as tired in sparring and I recover between rounds alot quicker.

If I had been running like this since the beginning I'd be undefeated. Both loses I was winning then ran out of gas and lost a close fight.

I read in M&F about Wlad training he rarely runs.

Because of his size so instead he swims alot more from what I read in M&F.

running shoes is also very important to reduce the knee injuries.

as well as size of a person also effect the running.

Any form of cardio is vital to almost EVERY sport. IMO you should be prepared to go the distance because you never know whats gonna happen and you don't wanna be locked into a stalemate only to be the first guy to to falter.

If you are worried about injuring your knee's, get knee support. Also, support for your back if that worries you.

The road is softer than the path, and grass is even softer.

Invest in good running shoes. Mine are crap as I cannot afford any, but this does help lots.
