it verys from person to person. Hilmer Kenty told me that he ran 2 or 3 miles per day and was a 15 round world champion fighter. Hagler ran 10 a day, everyone has an internal clock that ticks its own way......Rockin'
Sprints are the more important part but any long distance cardio is also very important but this can be biking running swimming or yoga with proper breathing. with sprints you will see the difference while your actually fighting the long distance youll see in how much you recover in between rounds which can be just as important as what you do in the round
You will face fighters who are technically more skilled than you.
You will face fighters who hit harder than you.
You will face fighters who are smarter than you.
You will face fighters who have more experienced coaches and better cornermen.
Eventually, you will meet a fighter who is all of the above. And when this happens, you had better be able to outwork the motherf---er.
Running is everything. Windsprints, long runs, stairs, hills. Stairmaster or elliptical if you're old like me. (Every few months I switch to the elliptical trainer.)
If you get outworked in a match, you have no one to blame but yourself. That's your own laziness that just cost you the fight.
Swimming is a great way to build cardiovascular endurance and it's very easy on the joints.
You may not be able to see the effects of running and roadwork but they'll eventually build up.
Anyway I'd say Sprints are more effective than running and jogging
yeah but usally for bigger fighters they should run more effectivly. Because for a 200 lber runner effect on joints is more damaging that say 160 lber.
but for middle to lighter weight class running is the most effective thing.
damn man..everybody cardio this cardio that....
Boxing aint no ***in cardio sport damn!
is an Anaerobic..and glycolytic fueled sport..
so.... you do your road work accordingly
ROADWORK IS ABSOLUTLY ESSENTIAL
the right kind ..not jus wakin up at 430 an joggin miles on end..dat aint gonn do **** except make your heart stronger n (not a bad thing)make you loose a bit of weight... once in a while is good to do those runs of course
