Smoking a cigarette does not mean that you will never be world champion. It does mean that you are going to have to put in extra work to negate the negative effects, but it can be done.
I would never recommend that a fighter smokes cigareetes but these are fighters, atheletes of a different breed with many coming from situations that a middle class kid or even man could not even comprehend. Fighters are people and they do as they will to get through.
Ofcourse I must state the obvious, that the surgeon general has determined that it is unhealthy to smoke cigarettes if your are pregnant...........Rockin'

And he'd be home in time to beat the wife. Only Jake could get away with that.
I try it again and I'm off to jail...

Granted, it would seem easier to fight with out them but if you are a smoker you can still do it. If your in the gym giving 100% everyday you can work past it and through it. It will be harder but it can be done........Rockin'

However you must admit that smoking definitely isn't a good thing to do... especially while training, smoking is a choice... not something you HAVE to live doing all of your life, so the best option is obviously to kick that addiction.
Whether or not others have done it... it is best to not do it because smoking always has a negative affect on you and you are always better off without it. I respect your opinion and all but you gotta admit that facts are facts... and the fact is that smoking is not good for you, especially in a sport like Boxing.Last edited by Spacey1991; 02-16-2009, 01:47 PM.

I understand where you are coming from and your right that it is best not to smoke if you want to fight. But say that there is a 19 yr old out there who wants to fight but is a smoker. Constantly tell them that they cant and they will soon begin to believe it.
While it is not best it can and has been done by some very formidable fighters. If you want to fight I would definately recommend quitting, but to say that somebody cant just because they smoke is not right..................Rockin'Last edited by Rockin'; 02-16-2009, 01:57 PM.
