It takes time for an addiction to set in. Its really hard to quit if you dont have a strong enough reason, for me that reason was boxing.

I smoked since I was 16 till I was 21 (so 5 years) and I got to the point where I smoked about 3/4 a pack a day at least. I decided if I wasnt mentally tough enough to quit cold turkey I wasnt tough enough to get in the ring, I had to either quit smoking or quit boxing. I tried countless times before to quit but I never had a reason until I got this idea in my head to box. You have to have inspiration not desperation to break a habit. If your desperate, the desperation fades as quick as it rears its head and you never succeed, but, if you are inspired then you will tough it out and do it no matter what.
Oh yeah that makes a lot of more sense. I don't know much about cigars and addictions to it so i knew i may say something ignorant anyway.

well the key word there is addiction. your not gonna get hooked on cigarettes after smoking a couple. Very unlikely.

hell with me it was one and done... first cigg I inhaled ran a bit, and my lungs were on fire. Haven't inhaled since.

but some just get hooked easier and addictions are harder to beat for some people.

and im a full supporter of smoking, just not a self advocate.

this may not help you, but if you really want to take boxing serious you need to stop it now. I dont get why is so hard for people to stop smoking. Like 2 years ago i remember i smoked 3 cigs in one day and the next day i didn't even care and didn't it anymore. Why some people get so addctive with it ?? it's unbelievable to me (no offense).
Because they keep doing it. After you start doing it a lot you become addicted and you can't do anything without them.

dude, there are so many fighters that have smoked cigareetes, cigars and Im sure some other stuff. World champions have done it.

Granted, it would seem easier to fight with out them but if you are a smoker you can still do it. If your in the gym giving 100% everyday you can work past it and through it. It will be harder but it can be done........Rockin'

He's telling I have a lot of potential but I cant reach it without the right conditioning and I cant reach that while I'm smoking............anyone been throught this and please help me quit.
I don't smoke... and obliviously don't want to, but my advise would me to go cold turkey... I know easier said than done but you gotta put up with it, because cutting down would mean u still smoking a few for the next couple of months.

Try to go cold turkey, say to yourself its for your own good... even if your ratty for the next couple of months it doesn't matter you can take that out on Boxing.
