check the leg kicks (lift ur leg so they hit the shin and not ur thigh/knee), don't let him get u in a clinch. boxers have more of a "sideways" stance so widening ur feet and squaring up to ur friend will keep u a bit more balanced if he shoots in for a takedown and also gives u more flexibility with ur hands. use ur footwork and keep moving, keep ur lead outside of his (should help a bit against the takedowns). depending on how good ur friend's hands are u mite wanna stay in the pocket and use head movement and footwork to avoid shots; get close enough to void kicks but not close enough for him to clinch. JAB. if u get into a clinch...act like Hatton lol. throw some Max Baer "punchelbows". remember, u can use ur legs/knees/elbows too.

if it goes to the ground, keep ur arms tight to ur body, don't let him posture up. u want to minimize the distance between ur body and his. don't let him get to ur sides (between ur armpit and hip). keep active hips. don't forget, u can still punch and elbow from ur back. if ur fighting in a cage then try to stay close to it, it'll hamper ur movement a bit but more importantly, limit ur friend's movement even more if he's goin for any submissions. control his wrists if u can.

target his ears, gettin hit with itty bitty mma gloves is hella annoying and hurts. and if ur getting ur ass kicked u mite as well give him ugly cauliflower ears

the advice above is very good

as the boxer you have the punchers chance, so if you see an opening for a big shot, my advice is to go for it, its probably your best chance, even if its in the first second lol

Learn to sprawl and keep the fight standing up! Ive done boxing and BJJ and let me tell you this if it goes to the ground you done for. Alot of mma guys that havent ever boxed and mostly just trained in grappling and very little stand up will be out gunned when they try to strike with you.

Only thing you can do is use your movement to keep the fight at range and keep it on the feet which is the only place you stand a chance at winning. It's only small chance because he'll be kicking you in the legs a lot and that hurts like hell, especially if you don't know how to defend it. Since you don't know how to defend properly, he'll probably keep kicking your legs until you start dropping your hands trying to catch them, and then he'll kick you in the head.

If he does take you down, just wrap your arms and legs around him as tight as possible and stall until the referee stands you up (I'm assuming this is an MMA fight, and you're not just fighting an MMA guy on the street).

What is this fight for???? backyard boxing? err...

All I can say is defend the takedown at all cost..check those kicks..and do your best to knock him out. Chances are, you will have better hands than him
