50lbs is alot of weight to lose. That could be the equivalent of a 91kg Super Heavyweight dropping down to the 75kg Middleweight division. Like someone else mentioned, you need to find out what your body fat percentage is. Also as far as I know, a Cruiserweight division still hasn't been introduced into Amateur Boxing. At 200lbs you'd be in the Heavyweight Division (91kg).

That kind of weight is going to take months .The most you hear about is Ricky Hatton 30 odd pound .That will take alot out of you putting your body through that. All I can think of , if I was in your shoes I would defintley limit if not stop drinking alcahol and plan a training diary and stick to it.Keep a log of diet training and weight .

Dude just don't rush with the weight let it come off slowy and natrually, and be careful you don't take to much water off the brain thats how you get seriouly hurt. Drastic weight cutting most of the time is a no no

I started training to fight and I was very out of shape. I am 6'4 and I weighed 238 pounds at the time. I have a tall athletic build so it was way too much weight for me.
I began with the idea of getting to cruiserweight like yourself and then when I got to 200 I realized I still had 10 useless pounds on me. When I lost those I realized I was only 12 pounds from LHW.
Long story short I dropped from 238 to 182 pounds and it took about 6 months.
I am about to go out for the night but I will tell you one thing, I did not accomplish it by running miles up miles upon miles.
I lifted weights and supplemented the whole time an increased my bench max nearly 100 pounds in the time that i lost 55.
Your diet is more important than running alot.
I will PM you with some specific things I did cause I'm not gonna bother to post them here so a bunch of *******s can tell me what else I should have done.
I will get back to you in the next couple days, I am very busy on weekends so if you don't hear from me by monday give me a friendly reminder, i dont come into this forum often.

Low intensity jogging will help you lose fat, and muscle. So about half of the weight you will end up losing will be precious lean muscle tissue.
I would recommend high intensity interval training. Like sprints.

yeah, you want to jack your heart rate and raise your metabolism. eating more protein than carbs would also help you and doing plyometrics, like hurpees
..if you have to cut some weight fast before a fight, like 5 or 6 lbs, i'd recommend getting a colonic
