Pull your guard in and tight to your body when you punch. Having your arms out makes you rotate much more slowly. When you do a 1-2 put your left hand to your cheek fast and bring in your elbow so your right can fly fast. It works for the same reason a figure skater bringing in her arms spins faster and even tiny changes make a big difference.
bend" ur arms out in front of you "hand next to hand" move"em in a circular motion for about 10 mins each day its hard as hell but after a while its cake.
whats always worked for me is to shadow box and throw punches and much as you can. box with heavier gloves all the time so when you take them off and put on lighter gloves they feel like your not wearing them at all. also i get lots of speed because my stance is southpaw, even though i am right-handed. this makes my jab super fast and powerful too, and i have trained my left cross to make up for the loss of power i wouldnt have by standin orthadox. however this is because i felt comfortable boxing southpaw from the start, if you are orthadox its very hard to change your stance and get used to it. my advice for building speed is not to touch weights. sure it makes your body and arms look good but if you keep building the muscle naturally (sensible diet, pushups, situps, pullups) than it increases your speed. also try focusing on building your forearms and shoulders, as this adds more pop to your punches as well as increasing your speed. all these methods have worked for me, try them out and let me know if you see any results...
Non of these tips will actually help you develop any speed. They're all conditioning tips and will only help you sustain what is already there. Train hard and make the most of whatever talents you have.

you know what, i just a negative twat who dosent have a clue what hes talking about and shouldnt be on a boxing forum.
you try to sound like you know lots but you clearly dont have a clue and probably cant box too well yourself, stop going in peoples threads and saying neagatvie coments.
of course you can devolp speed, are you saying the fastest boxers were born with their speed? No, they devoleped what they alrdey had,
of course some of these methods work, its common sense that if you do somthing you will improve, if anything just the strantgh that will build up in the arms will give some speed,
You'll probably get loads and loads of different ideas on this, but I've found good old fashioned shadowboxing has improved my handspeed and fluidity.
Very good post!
Shadow boxing is none of the most important aspects of boxing training. However, most young boxers don't really take it as seriously as they should. If you want to reach your full potential you have to put in practise effective shadow boxing. Get the mind focused on what you need to do, then sooner or later you will be doing it.

thanks for the tiome i will try a few
I'm not being negative. Just telling you how it is. Pragmatism is what boxing is based on. The fact is you just have to train as hard as you can and improve your conditiong and maximise what God-given talents you have. Nothing negative abiout that. In the end, the maximum speed you will get out of your limbs is what you have naturally. So called speed improving tips are just conditioning tips to sustain that speed. Did I say you shuld not do them?
eman-resu, the reason why they will improve combos speed is as I explained above, they are conditioning methods to sustain the natural speed you already have.
elastic/tension bands apparently work the best, they increase the fast muscle twitch crap
I've seen both Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr use them, so they must amount for something.
Speed is also a Genetic thing, some people (or even cultures specifically) are more Prone to have fast muscle twitch fibers, faster reflexes and such. A good example is to look at many cubans...some of the hand speed they produce is ridiculous.
