I tried it once working out but I couldn't even get through the 10 sets of 10 push ups. But my friend told me some people he was locked up with would all those push up again but in reverse. 1 set of 1, 2 sets of 2, back up to 10 sets 0f 10 again.
it's really not too hard if you condition yourself before attempting them.

there are a lot of people who do. man, i have seen guys get out of the bing all swelled up, the only exercises they did were push-ups and triceps exercises. and when i asked how many push-ups it took to get them to that state: meh, about 1000.

400 is a good number to be doing.. keep increasing your set numbers and keep going higher.

evermind what some of these guys said.

I was thinking the same thing....400 pushups a day is an EXCELLENT FREE workout for your entire body. Mix it up with some pullups and situps and you'll be a Monster.

I'd still prefer free weights. I'll get 10x the strength and power doing heavy bench, squat, deadlift, overhead press, etc. and plyometrics.

but are you lean? i am 6'1, 205 and lean from all the push-ups, sit-ups, sprints, shadowboxing and jumping rope. i don't know if i could maintain the same fitness level if i were heavy lifting and eating. lol

Well, because I'm cutting down from being a 295 pound fatass, not yet, but I'm currently at 220 and <15% bodyfat, so I'm on my way. Being lean has nothing to do with working out, it has to do with diet.

Same with fitness. I barely even sweat when I lift weights, but I do cardio separately and am in pretty decent shape.

i used to do 500 pushups 3 times a week. it would be 20 sets of 25. and i would do it all at once. now i just do 100 pushups everyday mixed with my standard workout. so 400 everyday is pretty damn good.
