    - If the fight starts at 7pm, what should I eat (and when) throughout the day?
    - How hard should I train on Friday and Saturday?
    - Any advice would be appreciated.

    THANKS!
Is it a smoker fight or an amateur boxing match? How many rounds and how long are the rounds? My first fight was 3 one minute rounds (smoker fight).

Stay hydrated, eat well, don't drink a ton of water or eat a ton of food prior to your fight, but you want to eat enough throughout the day that you will have energy.

You shouldn't train at all on Friday, take the day off... do something that relaxes you. On Friday night get a good nights sleep. Don't work out during the day. 30 minutes before your fight you want to warm up, get someone to work the mits with you, jump rope... get a good sweat going.

Like I said in the other thread, you will be very nervous as everyone is their first fight. Just try to relax, concentrate on breathing during the fight. A lot of people will hold their breath and be completely gassed, so make sure you are breathing. Whatever happens it's a starting point and the first one is the hardest, after that things get better.

I would hate to have a fight and not be able to compete, or be at my full potential due to some sparring incident.

If you are going to do any sparring I would do it the first few days of the week. Like Monday or Tuesday. Wednesday should be a conditioning night, and Thursday your goal is to break a sweat, get loose, and that is about it. Friday you want to relax, and let your body get ready for Saturday night.
at my gym we always spar the Thursday before out fights on Saturday and its worked fine. As far as sparring, we use big gloves and head gear, nobody ever gets injured. You have just as big a chance twisting an anke or hurting your hand on a heavy bag or shadow boxing in my opinion. I like sparring up until then because it keeps my skills sharp. Its kind of a tradition in my gym. But i can deffinatele see where your coming from.

To the threadstarter- your trainer should be answering you all these questions. Do whatever he says, not us.

I don't really know what advice to give you because I've only started boxing a month ago myself, but I just wanted to wish you the best of luck tomorrow man.

Stay calm and you'll be good

stay calm, focus on what you are good at and listen to your trainer/corner. make sure you dont look timid in front of your opponent, just breathe and stay calm, focusing on your gameplan

don't expect to be fighting at 7. I've only done one and ther were ten fights other than mine on the card and at least for me I didn't find out which one I was in untill I got there. bring some g****s or a banana or something because you'll probably be sitting around for a few hours.
