you ppl wonder y some of us knock u for saying you'll be a world champion..if i played my first ever game of basketball and said yo i know this is for me, in two years im gonna be in the nba im gonna be the mvp..everyone would say it's ludicrous..
If someone has had atleast 20 amatuer fights then i'd say he'd be able to work out whether he can be a pro and if he's gonna be any good..Someone who's sparred twice..No chance!
Talking about boxers who started late and still made it, guys these men were a handful out of millions.
The funniest thing is we have so many dreamers here...however how many are succesful amateurs?golden gloves champs?aba champs?area champs?I've not seen any. On the other hand how many of the dreamers are "starting late" with hardly any amateur fights or no amateur fights...the majority!

So you have to be successful BEFORE you have the dream?
I thought having the dream and wanting to fulfill it would lead to success through dedication in trying to reach your goals no?
After a certain amount of fights you should be able to tell whether you can make it? So what if i didnt reach my goal in those 20 amateur fights? Should i just give up because according to the goals i set myself before "i cant make it"?
OR should I continue to better myself and keep on trying and trying till i get there? Were not all quitters like that you know.
And what point are you trying to make about people not being champions on here already? The fact that these people come on here to discuss boxing and help each other out to get better at it outside of the boxing gym shows their passion to succeed at their sport. If youre a champion you probably wont be on a forum asking questions will you? Youll probably already know most of what it takes and have a pretty damn good trainer bustin your ass.
What a dumb statement.
Whats worse............having the dream and putting time, sweat and effort to working towards it............or typing on a forum about how people with the dream are deluding themselves.
I know which one i have more respect for.
Vote GrizzleBoy, its the right thing to do.

Well, Ibragimove started boxing at 21, Hopkins only started boxing properly at 16, I'm 16 and I know I've got it, I just need to stay motivated. Also I'm already a black belt in taekwondo, I know it's not boxing, and I mean non- Olympic Taekwondo, so we use are hands and my instructor was a former boxer so I already have the reflexes, fighting instinct etc I need to work on the power etc.
But I'm gonna shut up now and go train!

sorry don't know what that was about, I meant 17 years old, I got mixed up with Earnie Shavers!
But people like James Toney and Ibragimov aren't exactly the most athletically gifted boxers like RJJ and Mayweather, but they are born boxers which I think is different.
Some people just get a good hang on boxing
