Thanks for all the responses guys I'm getting it all in my head...I'm wondering how much is a good number of calories for cutting weight?????

I've been trying to keep it under 2,000 a day regardless of what it is I eat...

My friend was telling me just to eat whatever, just make it small and make it every 3 hours to keep my metabolism going...

I tried to combine both-like today

    I had

    7:30AM- Oatmeal (90 Calories)

12:00PM-Peanut Butter and Jelly on White Bread (I know Peanut Butter's got a lot of saturated fat but I really didn't have time to make anything else)(460 Calories)

3:00PM- Nature Valley Cinnamon Granola Bar (180)

about 4 I wanted something sweet so I snuck in alittle Ice cream, probably like a total of 200 calories worth...

So I'm thinking so far today I've had a total of about 900-1000 calories

I'll probably have like Tuna on White Bread (350) or Soup (240 for dinner so I'll probably round out today at, at most, 1690 calories

Be very careful about not taking in enough calories. I was trying to lose weight and did just that. My energy levels went way down and i lost no weight. If you arent giving your body any fat and calories it will learn how to hold onto the fat it has and reduce your metabolism so that you cant be active and burn that fat.

Beans are good to eat, especially black beans - lots of fiber and protein. Seeds are good for protein. Almonds are good. Peanut butter is good. These should all help you feel full, as well.

oh yeah, of course you need a cheat meal every week or two. that's actually very important if you want to continue to lose weight. if you eat all healthy stuff your body learns how to hold onto fat, whereas introducing fats every once in a while will keep your bodies metabolism up.

Mixing starches and carbs with protein and fats will keep you satisfied longer. Like instead of just eating a banana, eat it with peanut butter. It's actually tastes really good. Not really suppressing hunger, but it does its job and is healthy.

Yea I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out whats good to eat and whats gunna be counter productive (Like too much too little)

So what is a good amount of caloric intake for someone trying to cut weight???

To give you an idea I'm about 5'10-5'11 and last time I weighed in I was 220lb....I'm decently strong but I won't lie, I'm overweight (38-40in waist ).......I want to drop down to about 180-170 ASAP...I'd like to say by Christmas but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't very be healthy....but I'd like to see some results to know I'm doing it right ya know..

Yea I know what you mean, I don't eat the same thing everyday, by no means...Thats why I sit here and wonder how people can eat the same thing and not mix it up a bit....

I only listed what I ate today...not everyday...

It depends on your activity level, really. I lost weight the fastest when i increased the amount i was eating and also increased activity, as opposed to decreasing the amount i ate. You also have to look at quality of calories. calories from vegatables and fruits, especially organic, are packed with vitamins and minerals, hence more energy to increase your activity. Also, fruits and veggies are packed with ruf***e, which your body actually burns calories trying to process. Eat more vegatables than fruits, cuz fruits have sugar, eat some other fiber rich foods (oats, clif bars), cuz fiber will help you naturally keep weight off, and lean meats.

At your weight, and with what you want to do, i would not go below 2200 - 2500 calories a day, esp. if you are working out. You will crash otherwise. The weight will come off faster than you think. This is the healthiest way to lose the weight. If overall health is not your concern, which for some guys its not, and you only want to lose a lot of weight then look up the Stillman Diet.
