Well man, you said you found it hard to beleive and the dudes providing you with information to squash your disbelief. Hes right for putting you on the spot just as you did to him when you basically called him a liar.

Edit: I spend quite a lot of time on the bag too but sometimes i dont know what to do and just end up smacking the living **** out of it till i have no energy left in my upper body. What kinda specifics do you do on the bag while you at it for so long Versa?

I work on different combos,or punches that Ive cooked up in my head. I try to get the same rhythm on the bag,as in the smacking of it.If it doesnt do the same sound then Im obviously not hitting it right.I also imagine its a guy sometimes, visualation is a good tool.

On the 150lb bag I do furious combos like jab-right-left hook, straight right-hook to body-left hook to head,jab-left hook-over top over hand right, straight right to body-left hook-right hook to body, then I dip around the bag.Jab,left uppercut(all from orthodox),over the top over hand right. I do less speed and more power on the big bag.

On the small 70lb skinny bag.I do the same combos but with more speed, and flurry like instead,to build my speed up even more. When I hit the bag alittle hard and it moves alot. I move around bout time its swings back my way I can hit it again. An example on what I'd do is jab, slip and move out the way. I'll repeat that a few times, then I set it completely up with more shots. I try to snap my punches more on the smaller bag.The way I know Im doing it correctly is the bag doesnt move as much.Although its not,I still move around because you cant be a stationairy target because your opponent isnt.

I work alot of defense on the bags too. After I throw a combo I bob and weave, and step to the side to get out the way. I also step about 3 feet from the bag then I explode is with a jab and a combo to go along with it.Because most likely your opponent isnt going to be that close to you,so you gotta similate is if they're that far apart.I also skip around the bag when Im not hitting it,then I explode with a combo when Im ready.

All of this that I do in the bag makes the times go by extremely fast. Ever since I started boxing thats how Ive practiced doing a minimum of 15 rounds of the bags.Or 45minutes,1min rest. So its not as hard as it seem, its quite easy once you get used to it.

Thats some pretty intense stuff Versatile, ever heard of wing chun? It's a really useful martial art that can increase your speed.

Random fact: Bruce lee has a boxing record in China, its 10-0, he used wing-chun and western boxing techniques at the time.

        cheers

just a though: couldnt doing to much heavy bag not help your muscle development, because they are ripped up when you work then they heal again but stronger, i heard that if you work the same muscles intensivley everyday they never get chance to heal.

Good point. Maybe doing the same thing everyday could also cause muscle adaptation also? So after a long period of training those muscles get used to it over time?

it is a toll on your body to use the hb everyday, no doubt. i think you should up and down the intensity a little bit. maybe spend as much time, but don't go 100% all the time. 80 some, 50 some, etc.. I know I'm SPENT the day after I've gone 25+ rounds of balls to the wall..
