The above poster speaks with wisdom, after researching cutting weight I relised how many deaths have been caused by extreme attempts to cut weight. And i have made a solemen vow not to go up farther then 5 pounds of my weight class.

          i've done 6 lbs in a day.

cut from about 160 to 138 in two weeks.

cut from 148 to 138 in about 36 hours.

One question for everyone thats has ring experience for your first fight did you decide when you were ready to fight or did you just go with your trainers suggestion. The reason im asking is my trainer feels im ready but I dont and dont wanna look to imature in the ring (ie All my family and friends would be attending)

Super sorry for the thread high jack i just felt my question didnt need a whole thread by itself.

when i "cut" i always felt it. noone doesn't feel it. i cut to 138, my matches werent for over 6 hours, and probly walked onto the mat at 145 lbs. i felt good tho, but not 100%.

when i "trimmed" and followed a longer better diet plan i felt awesome at 138. but always had to cut 3 or 4 lbs, but that is cake and doesnt really affect me.

there is a book called "grapplers guide to sports nutrition" and it compeltely covers nutrition and dieting down. written by phd and md john berardi. the methods, and diets make sense and work great.

if you must cut do it right. do it wrong or too extreme and you risk kidney failure....

when i cut i always had clean diet for a few weeks, lean protein and steamed veggies. i always had a water jug in my hand. the week before.... 1.5 gallons a day. i couldnt take anymore in.

cutting sucks, but IF YOU MUST, this was my routine

now..... two days before, i cut all salt.

24 hours before cut ALL food and water.

Do one cut session before you go to sleep. (sweating it out with abolene and a sauna suit)

You will lose about 3-4 pounds.

You will lose about 2 over night pissing because of cutting the water.

Do another session in the Am depending on where your weight is when you wake.

Chill the rest of the day and you might just be 1 or 2 over and you will lose at least one of those throughout the day with small pisses and doing nothing.

At most you might need to do one more cutting session and start that 1.5 hours before weigh-ins and be ready 30 minutes early.

That is very do-able... But the way I like to throw punches constantly... that would hurt my stamina I'd think... Could be wrong though.. maybe I'd feel fine.

it can crush you, but not stamina wise, at least not for me. some guys though get tired just walking to the mat.

when i cut it was for sub grappling matches.... i always had great stamina and speed... but lacked power. my takedowns in the gym would feel strong and hard and i wouldnt have issues generating explosive power.... after cutting sometimes i felt like i was "pushing" rather than exploding.

easy with no cutting. post your email and i can send you some sample plans that do not involve cutting, and also how to properly put the weight back on if you want to.
