Inconsistant enough to win titles in three divisions. He cleaned out the middleweight division, and was only defeated by RJJ as a super middle. His career after that was full of weight problems and inconsistancy yes, but he came back and took out the top cruiserweight to win the belt, almost knocking him out in the process.

His heavyweight career is still impressive since he is in there with guys who are 6'3 plus and he only stands around 5'9. That disadvantage in height is almost unheard of, yet he perserveres with boxing skill. RJJ came up in weight and fought one guy, the safest opponent, and then got out of there. Toney has fought atleast six fights at heavy, and has proven to be competitive everytime. I agree he wastes his talent with his problems with weight, however even Toney's worst critics would agree he is a lock for the hall of fame, and probably a legend.

I want Toney to win but how can we expect him to be in fighting shape when this fight will take place after two major eating holidays. Everyone eats big on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most people gain weight around this time of the year. Toney might come in at 300 lbs on January 6th.

I can't say for sure who I'll back until the weigh in but I really hope Peter knocks Toney out, for the pride of the sport. I am not being bitter when I say that insiders are sick of his attitude and arrogance. He really takes his shtick too far, not only in how he treats his opponents, but also journalists, former managers, and pretty much anyone he's not currently friendly with.

My personal take is that even if he was robbed vs. Peter (I don't think he was), he deserved it. Toney likes to compare himself to old timers, but everytime I see him at a press conference, it's not Jersey Joe Walcott but rather another product of The Garden State that I see in him, Tony Galento . Now it's true James has maybe thirty times the skill Galento had, but in physique and class he is a dead ringer for old "Two Ton" and his press conference antics.
Another post making you look like the complete ***** you are.

How the **** do you know how Toney treats opponents, journalists etc. You have a biased crybaby view you've developed from a far and do nothing but complain.

Peter said himself that despite what Toney said to him pre fight, he was a perfect gentlemen in the ring.

The bottom line is that Toney is one of few remaining legends in the sport, and what he does inside the ring is a treat for any boxing fan able to watch him. He could have retired long ago, but instead he's in the ring standing toe to toe with hulking heavyweights.

The fact you go out of your way to shun him and suggest he shouldn't be around while touting ****ty plodding heavyweights like Peter, and going out of your way to defend utter trash like Maskaev shows what a complete waste you are.

You watched that last fight and developed an opinion to support all of your pre fight non sense instead of sucking it up like every other Toney hater did here admitting what a joke that fight was.

Everytime you post on this subject, or anything else to do with Heavyweights, you're making an ass of yourself and looking like a complete *****.

Oh, and Peter at 230? Brilliant. ****ing dumbass.

It's well documented that Toney disrespects reporters and journalists. When dealing with foreign press he is known to mock them, impersonate accents etc. I don't need to bring up the crude and inaccurate attempt to mock Ruiz's "mexican" heritage. The history between he and his ex-female manager Jackie Kallen is well known on this forum. Other insiders in boxing are sick of him. Lou Duva himself said that nothing would be more satisfying than seeing Toney knocked out. James is a self centered prick who's full of himself and his act has grown thin and popularity has waned since the Ruiz fight. My only gripe with Toney in a professional sense is his lack of discipline. I actually enjoy watching him fight and thought he put on as masterful display against Ruiz. All of my problems with him are for personal reasons. He rubs me the wrong way, as well as many others, and along with Zab Judah he could retire tomorrow and never fight again and it wouldn't even be worth a shrug from me.

Toney is an exceptional boxer but horrible sportsman. He has very little respect for the sport that he's made his millions in, as evidenced by the condition he shows up to fight in. Soon he will retire, a sure lock for the HOF, and living reminder that prize fighters and athletes are not always the best role models.

Toney is said by many reporters to be a completely different personality in person. You're taking what you've heard, and twisting it to suit your biased agenda.

I'd like to hear Ice comment on what Toney's like in person. Would be nice to get the take of someone who's spent a great deal of time around him than some goofy looking spitefull puke.

Regardless of what you think of Toney, you watched that last fight with a sick feeling in your gut after all that yapping about Toney getting KO'd in 4.

Toney took Peter's best punches standing right in front of him, no clinching, and shook them off to out throw and out land him in almost every round.

100% of the press at ringside had Toney winning, as did a troop of Toney haters on this site.

The fat little Middleweight you hate so much stood toe to toe with Peter, out threw, out landed, and out boxed him.

Get ready, because it's going to happen again, and you'll have to come up with a whole new batch of bull **** to spew.

Bets still on the table. Them is running words for you.

I'll be rooting for Toney although I could care less about the heavyweight division.

Look at you, you smug little *******. You insult the way I look but you don't dare post a picture of yourself.

I've explained to you why I didn't make a cash bet before, and my financial situation has not changed. Between my car, student loans, and a low paying job, I just have enough to get by on and save a little on the side. To me a hundred dollars is a lot of money, not something to blow on a boxing bet. There isn't a man in the world who can predict a boxing match with 100% certainty, and that's what I'd need to make that kind of bet with you. You see it's not losing the $100 as much as losing it to a smug little ***** like you.

Might Toney win? Sure. Who knows, maybe he wins by a knockout, early. Stranger things have happened in boxing. However, I'm confident my man Samuel Peter will come through. No I'm not betting money on it, but boxingscene points, sure.
