Do you think he'd get more credit if Collins had showed some balls instead of retiring?

Probably, Collins never really wanted that fight. Calzaghe would have given him a beating.

Collins was nver that great anyway though, was he?

A prime Benn or Eubank would have been too much for him.

He had his moments. He'd beat every SMW on the scene today I think, JC excluded.

The Benn fights broke my heart but I have to give him big credit for the Eubank wins. Both of them beat him in their primes though.

He's faced plenty of very good fighters in his career already and beaten most of them impressively. Admittedly most of them came in the first half of his career but they are there none the less. Joe had beaten better fighters after 25 or so fights than Kessler has after 38.

Sorry but beating up on a 35 year old Beyer and bums like Siaca and Mundine doesn't put you ahead of the guy who's been widely regarded as the best in the division for the last 9 years. Not even close. The only one who needs to prove anything is Kessler. I can't believe he holds 2 belts with his resume.
                      Not a bad post. -

Look.. No sane person would call Calzaghe a bum. I think heīs a sure top two

Calzaghe has a better record. Canīt argue with that either.
Kessler had major surgery i his hand and his back twice, and his recordlist should only have been around 25-30 fights, before he got a chance at a title. But they have been careful and made 3 build-ups of Kessler..

So why dont i rate Calzaghe higher?
He won a vacant wbo belt, and settled - and claimed to be the best smw.. That is simply not enough! Heīs had good opposition, but never went for the best.. Jeff Lacy comes along, a free belt - (The same with Kessler taking the wbc belt.. Just a day in the office).

You canīt belive Kessler has two belts with the record list he has.. The reason is quite simple, you win belts by seeking out champions. Calzaghe is a high risk fight for Kessler i agree to that. So isnīt he one hell of a mother****er to seek it, instead of wanting too make $ now he has the chance?? (Kessler is far from wealthy compared to Joe, danish tv and 5 mill people donīt generate enough $ to buy new shoes).
Being a great fighter, is facing the best you can get...

Really hope this fight will happen.. It would be fight of the year, and if you think Kessler is a lucky bum with two belts, you got a nice surprice waiting..
