If boxing ever dies out its because boxing killed boxing not because of mma.

but guys you gotto those sherdog forums and you read what they say they say boxing is boring! but it doesnt make sense why they say that when striking is a big part of mma...take away the boxing and then you get some lay and pray wrasslin!
most of the fans of ufc are college and highschool wrestlers and yes they are white...but its only because like someone said they can relate to it more...not many of those wrestlers can relate to boxing...think of it this way a wrestler before ufc was never considered a fighter so of course they despises boxing because when they fought at school they had to Box the guy...now ufc came along and all the wrestlers are laying on top of a guy they love it! and now they call it real fighting because they know they couldnt box in a ring...alot of the ufc fans are so wierd tool....they though rich franklin and chris leben had awesome stand up....and they both got tore apart by anderson silva a guy who moves like Ali and uses fundemental boxing and muay thai.
I just dont get it why they hate boxing i like both sports....but everytime i talk about boxing they get a bitter look on their face.Comment

Boxing is not dead and UFC is not killing it. I don't get why people see UFC's rise of population as boxing's demise. They're two different sports. Its like saying basketball is becoming really famous and its killing football.Comment

I might be generalising here but, 95% of what people say on the Sherdog forums say about MMA, let alone boxing, is ridiculous. MMA.tv is better, but still not great.
The best place I have found online for discussing MMA is a sub forum of the DVDVR boards.
Its like saying basketball is becoming really famous and its killing football.
Boxing is not dying. Look at the PPV buy rates. It's having one of it's best years in a long time. Look at the dollars and cents. The UFC (and to a lesser degree MMA as a whole) has made in roads, but they are a different sport.Last edited by nfc90210; 10-27-2006, 04:18 PM.Comment

I live in the OC I don't see it. I'll look for em I'd love to see what they got.
A boxing is hurting, but the sport is far from dead. The worst of fighters who are televised make more than Matt Hughs and Chuck Lidell combined most of the time. Thats just on HBO and Showtime. The numbers for PPV are colossal
Orange County is way to trendy with everything it's in right now watch it fade away. Soon Oc guys will be saying it's just for rednecks. Boxing has been around longer than most of the top sports today. With deep roots in Europe. For the record they train for jujitsu and Muay Thai at my gym. I'd lay any one of those guys out with in 30 seconds. They all think there last name is Ortiz or Lidell. Lol. My opinion is this A boxer trains from the day he enters the gym to make all of his movements second nature. No worry about learning two or three different styles a dozen submission holds on top of trying to learn how to hit. No need to think about what is going to happen next, the guy moves this way I end it for him. Simple. Look at it this way Chuck Lidell = good boxer, apponents with there "ground and pound" =devestated......Its not even hard for him anymore. He doesn't even work as hard as he used to have you seen his gut lately?Comment
