Thats bull****, I was at a mma event during the summer with 2 friends, one of them wasn't too happy, said he likes boixng much better. There will always be boxing fans and mma fans and some who watch both. To the casual household I'd say mma is more appealing at the moment based on recent ppv numbers but that is heavily because of the problems in the heavyweight division of not having one unified champ...

You are a moron. MMA is not king. It's barely alive on the east coast. Some of the top MMA fighters make 5K a fight, while middle league boxers make 50K.

Another fact is that HBO's boxing events earn a Nielsen viewership rating that rivals the UFC show on Spike TV by a 3-1 ratio. Keep in mind that more people have Spike than HBO.

Boxing is not dead and is not going anywhere. MMA may have peeked the fans interest at the time but it will never take our art to the ground. I have a feeling that something revolutionary is going to take place in the coming years. Boxing isnt going anywhere.

Everywhere I go I see these white boys with there tap out shirts and talking about how they can ground and pound an wrestle a guy....i never seen fight sports so popular i was one of the few watching BOXING and older ufc....but it seems UFC crushed boxing becuase all these wanna be tough frat boys now walking around in the mall talking about it...

and the ratings prove it...

Its all the greedy promoters faults....they are dumb they could of made more money showing free fights 2 times a month on a regular station like ABC, NBC, CBS etc....but they want that quick fix from a ppv.

It's true, sad but true. Any hardass can be a UFC guy, but you have to be an athlete to be a boxer, it's solid truth. I enjoy MMA but Boxing is my life line, and it's alright how it is, we don't need ridicolous media attention, as long as they keep fighting, i'm happy.

Im with vB on this. This is actually a ****** thread because there is no right and wrong except for this racial bull****...most people love both these sports for the same reasons.....Gladiators...Warriors...they are all people we can relate to...even if we arent warriors like them...we want to be...LOL...all you have to do is watch a Gatti/Ward fight or watch Bonner/Griffin or Griffith (sorry I dont remember his name..I can see his face though)...those were ****ing wars!!!!!!!!!!...leaving every last once of energy in the ring or Octogon...fight to the death sorta thing...not literally of course but you know what I mean...like ALi Frazier 3...holy **** what a war...Im white, they are black...who cares...there is no difference between a white skinned warrior or a black skinned warrior. They are both warriors all the same..so what one has a better tan the the other...even look back to the guys that werent that skilled...Ken Shamrock of old wasnt that skilled but wasnt any less a warrior...or think about Chuck Wepner...got his ass handed to him for 15 rounds, Ali made mincemeat of the Bayonne Bleeder...but I dont think of him any less a warrior as Ali.
