Yeah, i really have never seen anyone with UFC clothing or anything on, or heard anyone talk about UFC.

Id say Ive seen a surge in MMA clothing lately, I have not seen alot of boxing stuff, but again I look at it this way....
The UFC well a sport is also a weekly tv program, marketed to the max, supplements, clothing, etc. Well there is alot of boxing shows/events I dont see a brand being pushed, therefore seeing UFC shirts and hats etc all over young influenced men is a given as it is a " brand " as much as a sport.Comment

What's wrong with liking both sports? I cover both and couldn't dissagree with you more..Yes MMA is the fastest growing sport but is it killing Boxing? No... If boxing is dying then why are there so many fighters making bigger purses than your top stars of MMA? MMA is great and I hope it grows as big as any other sport the world has ever seen but your problem is social and not about what MMA or Boxing is doing. For the record I live is So Cal also so I know what you mean but if anything this is just a group of guys that have found something to identify with. BTW MMA is bigger than what you see on TV. MMA is a world sport with Roots in Brazil,Japan and Europe.Comment

The sudden popularity with MMA is due to the disinfranchised Pro-Wrestling fan. Those people come and go its just a fad to them. They will eventually grow out of MMA as well.
Boxing fans will always be boxing fans. We will always support the sweet science.Comment

if the money ever goes to mma from boxing.. african americans will dominate that tooComment

Boxing is not dead. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it having one of it's best years in a long time in terms of PPV guys?
The UFC (and to a lesser extent MMA as a whole) has made great in roads in the US in terms of both popularity and mainstream acceptance as a sport. That doesn't mean that boxing is dying or that the UFC is killing it. The world is bigger enough for two combats sports. Boxing is boxing. MMA is MMA. They can exist together quite happily.
Some MMA fans say unbelievably ******ed things with regards to boxing. On the flip side some boxing fans say unbelievably ******ed things about MMA,
if the money ever goes to mma from boxing.. african americans will dominate that too
If you look at the current MMAWeekly.com top ten rankings for heavyweight there are four white Eastern Europeans, two Hispanic guys from Brazil, two white Americans and a Samoan guy from New Zeeland.
At light heavyweight (205 lbs), taking the MMAweekly.com top ten rankings, you have five Hispanic guys from Brazil, a white American, an African-American, a Hispanic-American, a Japanese guy and a black guy from Holland.Last edited by nfc90210; 10-27-2006, 04:09 PM.Comment

Boxing is not dead but its fading in the public eye because its lacking superstars. The HW division is weak, u ask a casual boxing fan what fighter they know in HW theyll tell u "aint it one of them Russian guys?"
Roy Jones (which was a big draw to the sport) is done. The Middleweight division was interesting when Trinidad, DLH, Hopkins, were competing. Now 2 of them are retired and is close to retirement.
Now all casual boxing fans look forward to is Mayweather vs. Baldomir(which on paper it looks like a one side fight) and the lower weight divisions which were never to popular.Comment

Everywhere I go I see these white boys with there tap out shirts and talking about how they can ground and pound an wrestle a guy....i never seen fight sports so popular i was one of the few watching BOXING and older ufc....but it seems UFC crushed boxing becuase all these wanna be tough frat boys now walking around in the mall talking about it...
and the ratings prove it...
I like mma and boxing but BOXING is dead....
Its all the greedy promoters faults....they are dumb they could of made more money showing free fights 2 times a month on a regular station like ABC, NBC, CBS etc....but they want that quick fix from a ppv.
its lame.Comment
