People forget that Duran was in the fight -2nd fight- they talk about as if Duran was getting his ass handed to him which is incorrect. Ray boxed but he still had a lot of respect for Durans power, as he keep away.

Yes, of course he respected Duran, this is why he boxed and kept away and didn't try to stand toe to toe.

Oct 24 - Floyd Mayweather Jr disses Sugar Ray Leonard

In a recent article by Brian Doogan for the Times Online, Doogan quotes Sugar Ray Leonard from a recent boxing awards dinner in Vegas. Sugar Ray, talked openly about the way Floyd Mayweather Jr., acted and treated him at the event.

The Legendary Sugar Ray said he was approached by Mayweather Jr., and Mayweather Jr. began to berate him for losing to a lightweight (another legend, Roberto Duran) when he was in his prime. Sugar Ray recalls at that time smiling
and shaking his head ruefully.

Sugar Ray said: “He said, ‘Ray, you know, if you were in my era you wouldn’t be in the top 10’.

Sugar Ray had compliments and strong advice for Mayweather Jr., adding: “Of all the fighters today, I have to say that Mayweather reminds me the most of me. The kid has every gift and physical attribute, but if he continues to be the type of person he is, he’ll never be up there with us. He’ll never make it."

Duran would whoop Mayweather as well, and stop him, in all honesty. And I'm not even going to go into the Leonard vs Mayweather scneario; but think of Leonard-Benitez and I think you'll get the picture.

I'm not saying Mayweather doesn't have the talent, for he does; but as Leonard said, he better change his attitude or he'll never really get the recognition in his lifetime.

Oh, one more thing......I won't be surprised if Mayweather loses.....that's right....loses to Baldomir. If Floyd wins, fine, he did what everybody and their grandmother thinks he'll do; but if he is upset, as I think he could be.....remember where you heard it.

Floyd would beat the **** out of Sugar if he was in his era...I'm sorry but Sugar shouldnt have lost to Duran but instead Hagler....Hell if Hearns didnt have a glass jaw then he would have beat sugar also...Sugar was the ****in man when he lost.....

On the other hand there's the arguably top 5 pound for pound fighter Roberto Duran.

Leonard DOESNT HAVE THE DEFENSE. He was far more offensive and floyd is very very defensive minded, thats why in my head, im having a hard time even calculating the matchup because floyds defense is so good against ANY conventional fighter. Even leonard.

Leonard was great at picking shots, one of the best bolo punchers of all time.. it takes accuracy to score with the bolo punch.
