You people are ****ing delusional. So Calzaghe is a better fighter than Maskaev... really? No ****. That's not the point. Him fighting Calzaghe would be good for all of us.. well, some of us, since people who are knowledgeable and follow the sport would want it; but the average fan would be much more hyped to see him take on a HW.

Also, Maskaev is 6'3 around 240 for a fight and Hopkins is, despite being large for the average one, a Middleweight. I honestly think this fight is harder than Calzaghe. Hopkins would most likely outbox Calzaghe to a decent decision, but not one sided. Against Maskaev he might be able to outbox him and be quick but 1 shot might be able to take his head off. Will be interesting to see no matter what.

Oh... and also all of you bitching should be shot. B-Hop is comming out of retirement and this should be a happy day for any boxing fan. Those of you who are complaining that he's fighting a HEAVYWEIGHT as opposed to Calzaghe are morons and are simply fan boys... not fans of the sport. Hopefuly this fight goes through.

I think Calzaghe would be the more difficult opponent for Hopkins. All these years that Calzaghe and Hopkins have been titlists 8 pounds apart and never fought has to say something.
Joe didn't move up to 175 to face Roy in his Prime, does that say something?

People will bring up the question of what does more for the 'legacy' of Hopkins, beating Calzaghe or Maskaev. Alot of people will say Maskaev soley for the fact that he's a heavyweight titlist but I dont agree because everybody knows that winning one of the heavyweight belts now is not anything the same as when it was doen for real in the past. Calzaghe has had a much better career than Maskaev, he's undefeated, he been on top for like a decade and will be somebody remember retrospectively 10, 15, 20 years from now.
Calzaghe wouldn't have the same record if he had to fight the same fighters Oleg has

I wasn't implying that one fighter ducked the other but the better opposition was at 168 when Jones moved to 175.

So? that's no excuse. Calazghe is a better threat then maskaev. Calazghe is a bigger challenge and a bigger name then maskaev. For god sake maskaev did got ko by a 1 eye taxi in sanders good lord. Maskaev beating rahman twice proves that rahman is an overrated 1 hit wonder. And maskaev is a freaking paper champion cause rahman didn't beat nobody to win the wbc title.

                Thats comical.
Hopkins isnt going to come out of retirement for less money and travel to Wales.
                What a joke.

Were talking about more money, a bigger draw and a middleweight facing a heavyweight.
                  Maskaev is the bigger fight.

Calzaghe said he'd go to the states for that fight..

That fight means alot more for Hopkins' legacy than Maskaev.. if Hopkins beats Calzaghe, he accomplishes alot more than beating the WORST heavyweight champion.. which will go on to lose several other fights after Hopkins beats him.. his win will be discredited.

But at the same time, Roy was not going to travel to Europe to fight, and Eubank, Benn and Calzaghe clearly didnt want Roy, or they would have left their hometowns to fight him.
