Margarito, winner of Cotto-Quintana, winner of Suarez-Cintron, Hatton.

The different is mayweather won't have to lose 25 pounds to fight in a division. And tarver defense is better then way easy to hit in margarito. And margarito is not a southpaw so for you comparing floyd/tony to jones/tarver is ******.

Tarver had multiple titles if i remember correctly, Tarver was also from Florida, and had been in jones shadow for years. The rivalry meant alot more than Margarito/Floyd because Margarito calling floyd out just started recently and is more of a promotional tactic rather than the circumstances that involved Tarver. For Tarver, Roy was his nemesis, for real nemesis, it wasnt just something his promoter thought he could use to build up a fight, it was for real. Not to mention, Tarver/Roy matchup evenly as far as size/height etc, Floyd is a smaller guy while Margarito is the bigger guy calling out the smaller guy.

Also, Tarver's rivalry was highly publisized in the Florida media and as the fight grew closer, the trash talk got worse and worse, whereas most boxing/newspaper media publications dont even talk about the floyd/margarito situation and that includes ring magazine, there hasnt been one single article dedicated to it in the largest boxing publication in the world.

If anything Floyd/Margarito is alot like Harris/Floyd.

its not ****** at all. whats ****** is u mentioning that floyd wont have to lose 25 lbs? okay and? that just another reason to fight tony.

tarver's defense is better but tony makes up for that in sheer force and power. obviously u really didnt understand my point and took it to a whole other level.

I dont understand how people cant grasp the concept of a simple thought. All i said was that Tarver called out Roy and Tony called out Floyd. Thats the similarity in both situations. then i get essays about how im wrong.

Because its not the same, fighters call each other out all the time, every other week i read about how somebody is ducking someone, Omar Sheika said Jeff Lacy is ducking him...OMAR SHEIKA. This happens all the time, but Tarver and Roy was a serious rivalry from 2 guys from the same area, one who shadowed the other the entire time. It was a genuine rivalry that stemmed from jealousy, frustration and disgust for one another. The Floyd/Margarito rivalry isnt the same is all im saying. Its not even a rivalry, nothing has happened to make it one. Floyd just ignores margarito and the general public doesnt really care. But the public cared when Tarver called out Roy because of the circumstances involved. Tarver wasnt just using Roy to build his name, he genuinely didint like him and wanted to kill him in the ring.

I understand where u are coming from. Yea fighters call each other out every day. Roy and Tarver was important but to say tony/floyd isnt as important is wrong. floyd is known as #1 p4p in the world just as roy was. tony is someone who threatens that status, just like tarver was, and floyd knows it.

the public definitely cares about tony/floyd or else all the lampley's and bernsteins' type commentators wouldnt be talkin about this. even steward says floyd is ducking him. they even ask other boxers what they think about the situation. so to say the public doesnt care is just plain ignorant.
