Actually, no, unless he wanted to forfeit his title and pass up the huge payday Hatton's people offered him. He wouldn't have made nearly the 5 million he made for that fight if he fought Mayweather...

I already saw him lose to Collazo...

Really??? I thought Floyd was a draw, isn't that why Hatton should get chump change if they fight?

Floyd's people could have easily manipulated the mandatory spot instead of letting Hatton face off with Stewart for it. He never even tried to negotiate the fight, he only ever called out Tszyu's name in passing, along with 4 or 5 other fighters.

Floyd is enough of a draw to get 8million to fight Baldomir and Margarito...

I'm just saying Floyd would have taken most of the pot if the fight did happen, so Tsyzu wouldn't have made nearly as much. If Hatton wasn't so scared about leaving England, Tsyzu wouldn't have been overpaid to fight Hatton. Tsyzu is one of my favorite fighters, but even I can admit the man wasn't a huge draw. Hatton's people felt they needed to overpay so they could put on a wrestling match in England where they allow that type of thing...

Since you're such an expert on these things, how could Floyd become the mandatory? Please explain these manipulation methods he failed to use. Man, you are really reaching when you know damn well there's no chance of this fight happening during that period.

How can you negotiate a fight with someone who is already obligated to fight two other people back-to-back?

Tell me where Ruiz is based again?

Hatton's scared of fighting in the US? Are you sure about that? Mind you, I would be with it's record over the last few years.

Tszyu was plenty enough of a draw after *****-slapping Judah, Mitchell, Chavez and Co to make the fight worthwhile. If Hatton's team could generate that kind of money in the UK then Floyd's people would have had no problem bettering it in the US. Or are you saying Hatton's a bigger draw than Floyd?

Hatton is a bigger draw than Floyd in England. He's one of about 5 decent fighters from England compared to all the top fighters that call the US home. Hatton doesn't have too many people to compete with for fans over there. No one in the US thinks much of Hatton. 5000 people came from England to see his fight with Collazo and the venue still didn't sell out...

No matter how you spin it, Floyd/Tszyu had no chance of happening, couldnt be discussed and during that period was just not going to happen. Hatton generates that kind of money in the UK, because there is a different kind of support for a fighter there. Fighitng in your hometown every fight also helps generate that buzz. Hatton is a bigger draw than floyd in manchester, but here in america i wouldnt say hes much of a draw at all since people have been less than impressed with his last showing.

In america Floyd is a draw which showed in a fight to which he was the showcase fighter (judah/floyd), both PPV's hes been on have been in the 300,000 range so hes just as much as a draw as mosley/hopkins/etc.

Kostya wasn't obligated to fight the Hatton/Stewart winner until late 2004. If Floyd had been chasing the fight you don't think his team could have worked it so Hatton had to face him instead of Stewart for the mandatory? He just wasn't interested.
