The whittaker and the quartey fights was easily a close fight that could go either way. Whoever think otherwise is an idiot. The one fight i say oscar should of not won is the sturm fight but that's oscar fought for being way out of shape. The bottomline is oscar has way better legacy then tito and whoever think otherwise don't know crap about boxing.
    HAHAHAHAHA

did you even see the two fights or just look thme up on boxrec? Rivera knocked Vargas silly and Vargas was on the canvas attempting his version of a headstand. He did get up to win but not the same Vargas.

Tito fought the better opposition when he was at his prime, however DLH fought the better opposition after Tito retired, so I voted for DLH. I agree with those who say that DLH got many gift decisions, such as his fight with Whitaker. I also agree with those that say that Tito won his fight against DLH.

The only six division world champion in boxing history. I am not a DLH fan but you can't deny him this.

I think Oscar at the moment just shades it, and depending on the Mayweather fight, that'd make the gap even bigger, whereas if he loses that won't really affect his standing.

Better Legacy: Let's analyze it provided PBF is Oscar's last fight.

                    Trinidad (1990-2005) 44 fights, Dela Hoya (1992-2007) 43 fights

Middleweight: both Tito and Oscar got stopped by Bernard Hopkins, but Trinidad was an odds on favorite to beat B-Hop, DLH was an underdog against Nard, Trinidad also KO former MW champions Joppy and Cherifi, DLH got a gifted decision over Sturm. Edge: Trinidad

Junior Middleweight: Trinidad destroyed David Reid (14-0) and Fernando Vargas (20-0) Dela hoya, lets say he beats PBF but that doesnt change since Mayweather was smaller and making a big leap at 154. DLH beats Castillejo, a shot Vargas soften up by Tito, a faded Campas and lost a controversial decision to Mosley, Edge: I still give it to Tito

Welterweight: Trinidad was 16-0 at WW, including KO wins over Campas (56-0) Carr (32-0) Oscar had a close victory over Quartey, Both beat Camacho and Whitaker, Tito hands down at welter, he fought everyone else and had a longer reign.

Dela Hoya dominated the best fighters from 130-140 and had one sided wins over an old Chavez, a prime Gonzales, Ruelas, Hernadez, both great champions losses were against naturally bigger men, Mosley started at 135, Oscar 130, Winky was a long time 154 pounder while Tito 147. the advantages dela hoya had is all his decision losses were close but No shame on Trinidad losing a lopsided decision to winky wright coming off a two year layoff taking on one of the best pound for pound boxers.

In an interview back in 98', Trinidad stated he prefers fighting DLH at 154, having difficulty making the welterweight limit but he stayed on that weight class just to make the DLH fight happen, Their fight was close and both were losers that night. Trinidad demanded a rematch at higher weight class where DLH obliged. Its always Tito who fought them first before Dela hoya gets through that opponent. and he's not afraid to faced his opponents at their very best, Dela hoya (shades of SRL) would only stepped in a ring against the elite if he has several advantages, like the catch weight vs hopkins at 157lbs.

Bottomline: Trinidad has slightly better legacy than Dela Hoya.

DLH has a better legacy....but that is due to his marketability. DLH was a 6 division champ and was the face of boxing for a while.

On the other hand those that know boxing and saw them throughout their career know that DLH lived in Tito's shadow. DLH fought Vargas, Carr, Campas, Mayorga after Tito had already demolished them and they were not the same fighters after fighting Tito.

Both of the fighters will be remembered greatly, but Tito left the game in a ugly way, which contributes to the way people percieve him.
