It was not a huge win by any means. It was an impressive performance in that he dominated a guy most people figured would beat him. In retrospect, Lacy was not nearly as good as Showtime made him out to be. Wright's domination of Trinidad was twice as impressive because Trinidad has an impressive history. Lacy's biggest win was Scott Pemberton/Omar Sheika/Robin Reid. Take your pick. None of them are great wins. Calzaghe and his fans can't go a day without mentioning the Lacy shut-out as though it even ranks up there with Mayweather's domination of Gatti. Newsflash: it doesn't. Fight the winner of Kessler-Beyer, who, without a doubt, will be a more proven fighter than Lacy was.
Calzaghe needs to stop pubhopping, zippin tea with his maytes all the goshdarn time!!!
He's a champ, pro boxer. He gotta sign to fight again ASAP. He beat a prospect/contender. He didn't beat anyone established and worldy recognized.
Are you serious? None of those fighters went into fights with broken hands.
Calzaghe's broken his hands several times during fights and gone on to win so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make.

more than anything, i think joey calzone needs to stop using his "brittle" hands as an excuse to strech out his title reign and avoid dangerous opponents. for ****'s sake, arturo gatti, danny williams, and many others know how to win fights with the use of only one hand!
be a man, joe! if ur hand is really broken, ****ing suck it up and use ur other one, goddammit!
Read my post again. JC beat Eubank, Woodhall, Brewer and Ashira amongst others after breaking a hand during the fight.
a lits of punks and nobodies, whoopee doo.
i dont see what reading ur post again will do.
let me make my point clear enough for you: IF ONE HAND IS BROKEN, USE THE OTHER ONE TO WIN. APPARENTLY, JOE DOESNT THINK HE CAN GO INTO A FIGHT WITH JUST ONE HAND, BUT HE CAN FINISH ONE WITH JUST ONE HAND. HYPOCRITICAL, NO?
maskaev beat rahman with a bad back. adamek beat briggs with a broken nose. these injuries occured BEFORE the fight started.
we have only one back and one nose, but these fighters fought on anyway. we have TWO hands and calzone cant go into a fight if one has a boo-boo.
if you still dont get it: im calling him a coward and im questioning his heart.
Good for you tiger. I remember your love for Calzaghe before the Lacy fight so I never take your views on him seriously anyway. Of course you want him to fight one handed, it's the only chance you'll ever have of seeing him lose. And it's clear that this is the single most important thing in your life and has been for some time now. How sad.
Out of interest, when was the last time anybody KO'd or even outpointed somebody with their back or nose?

dude!!! You cannot deny that Calzaghe is getting too wild pubhopping and being raw with his maytes drinking tea after his win against Lacy.
WHY IS HE NOT fighting? This is lame. You can't just sit on a victory, you have to keep going on.
I checked back on some posts back in February, and you'd have thought Lacy was THE big thing. Forget Mayweather, forget Winky, forget Hopkins - Lacy was the man. Too big, too strong, too powerful and he going over there to knock over one of these overprotected fighters in Europe before being the star of boxing.
Didn't quite happen like that, did it. And maybe why the resentment is there towards Calzaghe.
Still, now we're in a situation where Calzaghe is still seen as a crap overpotected fighter, but Lacy is now reclassed as a bum. This despite beating some of the best SMWs out there, being an ex World champion and retaining that title several times. Some fools are even attempting to argue that Lacy would actually be competitive in any rematch (the mere prospect to me seems sick, but there we go). To those I simply say watch the fight again. I suspect neither really want it anyway, which is a good thing.
It's always been the way though. The yanks think that only fighters who fight over there all the time are worthy. Forget the fact that the likes of RJJ, Mayweather, Hopkins never fought outside their country - that's irrelevant of course - when the Euro's do it they're dodging. As for the crooked decisions excuse - works both ways as history tells us.
As for the Calzaghe fans still gloating about it, well you can't blame them can you. Written off as a no-hoper (and still disregarded as a top fighter) he absolutely busted your boy up. Some of us always knew he was that good. It's a shame no big name was lined up for next month, but given the circumstances and the other fights taking place then it's understandable. No excuses next mind (or in a few cases in the past), but this one was understandable.
One final rant - to the fool that thinks a fighter should go into a fight with a broken hand ... get a ****ing clue will you. Who in their right mind would go in the ring with someone capable of concussing you with only one working hand. That's just idiotic.
