I don't believe Ricky would be too focussed on his finesse in a Mayweather bout, he'll be focussing on speed at closing the distance and breaking rythm, while looking to frustrate Mayweather into leaving himself open to body shots.

He's famous for his body punching ofcourse, with 20+ KO's coming from the left hook to the body, and IMO no former super-featherweight could withstand Hatton's body shots. So for Mayweather to win this fight, he'd need to use a very high punch output (to keep Hatton off him) and dictate from ring centre (because he can't let Hatton get him to the ropes where he'd tee off from angles). But Hatton stood next to Mayweather in Las Vegas last year and says he doesn't know how Mayweather could really keep him off him, because he was quite suprised at how much naturally physically thicker he was to Mayweather.

He has no respect for Mayweather's strength and power, and will be looking to throw him off with a very fast tempo, as well as giving him a lot to think about with feints, footwork, angles, jabs and clinches. As for the body punches, he has developed techniques to land them on anybody - for example he clinches occasionally after burrying his head into a man's chest if he needs a rest, but then moves back slightly and unloads with bombs to the hips. Unless a referee is particularly strict on clinching or something, Hatton has developed this ability to clinch and move out at the right time to land to the body with momentum. And watch over the last few years if Ricky is having trouble with somebody at a certain point he'll hold his hands over his face in a high guard and then simply push through, using sheer strength to get his man on the ropes and then tee off on him with some serious ****.
Hey Juicy, how about at 147???

Ricky Hatton has ZERO defensive skills. He just tries to smother you and the Castillo and Chavez fights are proof that a smothering style will get you nowhere with Mayweather.
      You're dreaming, Boy.
No way does Floyd KO Hatton like Glen Johnson KO'd Roy...no ****ing way.

But, Miguel, I can see Miguel doing that to ****man.

I'm sure Mayweather is much slicker, and hits harder than Collazo.

We have debated it to near death and he still believes Hatton would "swarm PBF like no other" and that PBF head movement isn't worth piss when a guy is ripping you to the body.

But atleast he concedes that his oppinion "May" be biased since he trains with Hatton.

I respect his oppinion, I just dont agree with it. I think if he wasn't under the trainer and know Hatton personally he would see believe that PBF has the more talent and larger arsenal of styles.

Hatton fans tend to have this belief that Ricky possesses this worldly power. However, they tend to ignore the fact he made 15 WBU defenses against less that decent opposition. These are the same people who play Eamonn Magee up as more than a C level fighter, and forget that Thaxton made Ricky's face the equivalent of a human volcano. However, these are guys who haven't done anything outside of beating so-so English fighters, and will never be major players on the world stage. So, sure, he KO's these types with his famous body attack and smothering style, but no one, not even Tszyu, is on the same stratosphere as Mayweather is defensively and as smart in the ring. Collazo took it to Hatton, and Ricky squeaked by on a crap KD, and the biggest shot of the fight was the headbutt in the 3rd. Outside of that, Ricky looked horrid against a guy unknown outside of NYC, and you truly think he's going to trouble Mayweather?

Hatton has never had much of a defense, for example he doesn't move his head much or hold his hands up much because he feels he can't get his shots off as quickly. But he can move in and out effortlessly well, using timing and footwork. And the way he positions his hands, it's difficult for opponents to see what shots coming next which allows him to actually get his shots off first. But with Mayweather, I'm sure he'd be willing to eat shots to get his own shots in, and I know he genuinely doesn't respect Mayweather's power or strength.

Because I'm right. Hatton showed vs Collazo that he isn't quite ready for Canastota after a tough fight with Tszyu.

I believe that this is all a moot point and that this thread would most accurately be put in Fantasy Fights. Hatton has conceded that he can not compete with the WW's and moved back down to jrWW. PBF is gonna go no where but up.

Hatton has to Urango then Castillo at 140lbs and that would probably take up the the first half of 2007. The Castillo-Hatton fight will probably be a war and with Hatton's propensity for facial damage he will need a good amount of time to recover from that fight.

PBF vs Hatton wont happen anytime soon. If it happends at all it will be much later in there careers with one or both of them no longer being truely competitive anymore and the fight being meaningless.
