And like someone else mentioned, Peter was in much better shape for the Wlad fight. If Peter showed up in the 240s, he would have had the conditioning to do a lot more damage, and take advantage of opportunities.

Wlad won every second of the fight, except for one round where he was only once legitimately KD (which is off balance shot any way).
Wlad did against Peter like 20 times better than Toney did against Peter.
And to remind you, Wlad actually WON the fight with Peter.
Regardless, the Heavyweights still suck.Last edited by marlo; 09-03-2006, 05:11 PM.Comment

Toney dominated a guy Wlad struggled with . . .And it doesn't translate that Tony can beat Wlad.

dont forget too that the ref actually did something about all of Peters' behind the head punches in this fight, which certainly didnt happen in Klitscko's fight, and those behind the head punches basically did more damage to Wald than anything else
i want to see Valuev vs. Toney just baecause it would be such a mismatch, lol
i really didnt see anything great about Toney in this fight to make me think that he would beat the other top heavyweights tho, not really...

Aside from the knockdowns, Wlad shut Peter out, and made him look like the amateur he is. Minus the knockdowns, Toney had a MUCH harder time with Peter, but EASILY beat him. I'd LOVE to see those punch stats.....Last edited by MetalVomit; 09-03-2006, 07:52 PM.Comment

look at Peter`s face after Toney`s fight and look at Peter`s face after Wlads fight, Wlad ****ed Peter face up with just his jab !
Its the other way around Wlad dominated Peter , Toney barely won in my eyes , you can hardly call that a dominating fight but Toney should have won !Comment

ive only seen peter fight against wlad and toney, and i must say, i am more familiar with peter when his face is split in half then i am when its normal. when i saw him walking out before the fight i barely recognized him.Comment

Wow, I can't believe how many people are saying that Toney DOMINATED Peter. Yes, in caps. That's insane. I thought Toney won, by one point. The point deduction. I had it even in rounds. It was very close. Toney would land a couple of nice jabs, then Peter would push him back and land a couple right hands, sometimes partially. Then Toney would take a minute off and Peter would keep trying to club him, and land a few. Then Toney would come back and land a crisp little combo. Then take a minute off and get pushed back by Peter's jab and rights.
Toney looked good in spurts only. There is no way anyone can say he "DOMINATED" Peter, or that he "won easily." I thought he won, by a point deduction that was BS to begin with. Toney was the one holding, and bulled into Peter's face with his head. Peter was boxing his ears (perfectly legal, he's being held, he can still punch), and one of them landed to the back of Toney's head because Toney turned it. I say, that was no foul either way. Warn Toney for the full body hug and leading with his head, and then warn Peter for the rabbit punch.
The controversy is really only with the 2 judges scoring it 9 rounds to 3. That was a little silly, and that's giving Peter any and all benefit of the doubt. I could see Peter winning by a point (114-113) or Toney winning by 3 points (115-112) as the one judge had it or by 1 point (114-113) if it was even in rounds.
Anyone with the 9 rounds to 3, either way, is looking too much at one fighter (probably the fighter they predicted to win, this happens all the time), and ignoring the overall action throughout the entire round.
Nobody dominated. It was a razor close fight. Period.Comment

Yes, thank you. I'm glad not everyone is a ****ing moron here. You can have Toney winning, fine, but to say he won by more than three points is just ridiculous.
Also the last time I checked you aren't "dominating" the opponent when you get rocked several times in the fight, have to grab onto the ropes for assistance at one point (an illegal move Toney should have been warned for), and are forced to take 2-3 steps back everytime the opponent lands a jab.
Maybe Toney won (I had Peter by a close, close decision) but it wasn't by much.Comment
