I felt the decision for Peter was proper under professional scoring. This is the pro game not the amateurs, and the meaningful punches were landed by Peter. Toney slapped around Peter for a bit but Peter's punches had more effect and that's what most judges are looking for nowadays.
Peter landed more meaningful punches..

I'm sorry not in this case, the punches he did connect with (very few), i can think of only maybe two occassions during that fight where Toney was really bothered, then 10 seconds later Toney was sticking the jab in his face again.. Toney was knocking the **** out of Peter's head with the jab, please don't call it "slapping" cause that's not what it was.. if you want to play around with words, i guess, whatever, but Toney was throwing and connecting with meaningful jabs, meaningful body shots, meaningful hooks, alot of "meaning" in Toney's punches, just as much Peter, the only difference being KO potentialOriginally posted by Smokin'I felt the decision for Peter was proper under professional scoring. Not to mention you have to actually connect with "meaningful" shots for them to mean something.. and having it happen a couple few times in this fight isn't enoughLast edited by restless_438; 09-03-2006, 02:00 AM.Comment

ok just because someone has more power does not make it more meaningful.
you have to take everything into account. such as clean punching, defense,
ring generalship, and so on. Toney used his counters effectively and
blocked and countered most of peter's offense. I would love to see
the punchstat numbers on this fightComment

Toney didn't exactly help himself. I don't know what the **** you're talking about. James could do alot of things to get an additional advantage in these close fights? Hey, I've got it!!!! Maybe try sit ups and training before the fights!!! He's a ****ing clown who doesn't respect the sport, and he payed for it. WHat's even funnier is that their are actually "fans" who enjoy this crap and enjoy watching these uncoordinated sloths.Comment

Those red welts on the right side of Peter's face must have been caused by an allergic reaction of some type.

I had it for Peter close but wouldn't have blinked if Toney had gotten the decision. James was stung and even wobbled a lot more in these twelve rounds than I can recall since the RJJ bout, and while he may have landed more than Peter, his shots did virtually nothing. NOTHING!Comment

He trained and showed up for 12 rounds of boxing.. not sure what fight you were watching.... the only thing more Toney could've possibly done is knock Peter down, and a few brief moments, it almost looked possible, but lets get real here, Toney's not a natural heavyweight, yet he pulled his own with a natural one for 36 minutes..Comment

wobbling a fighter in a round or 2 does not mean they win 9 rounds out of 12Originally posted by Smokin'I had it for Peter close but wouldn't have blinked if Toney had gotten the decision.
