Winky said no, so Taylor went looking for other options.
Winky then goes back on his word and says he wants the rematch later.
Really? Taylor went looking for other options in the 24 hours after the fight?

What part of this did you miss:

Winky said some things in the heat of the moment in the 10 minutes after the fight (you know, like when fighters talk retirement etc) and then went back on it the next day in the St Pete times.

He's also said several times since then he wants a rematch.

If he wanted him to open up, he should have threw more of those hard shots to the body!
Thats what Taylor said in the post fight conference, and if you watch the fight, it totally makes sense.
In many occasions, when Winky was standing with his guard up, not throwing, Taylor started to back up into the ropes, engaging Winky, then throwing powerful countershots.
In some rounds it worked, in others it did not.
And Winky DID open up more, he threw alot more punched then he usually does.

I think that is dumb, u dont open up a smaller fighter by backing up. If he wanted to open Winky up, he should of imposed his will on him, and **** on his body against da ropes. U cant let the smaller man back u up and land more meaningful shots. Taylor game plan was all messed up then. He should have took the fight to Winky and open him up that way.

Wait, do you mean when he said..."The taylor camp better offer me more money this time around to take this fight, or they wont get anything."
          Yeah. I thought so.

I think Wright has proved he deserves 50/50.

What was the percentages of the purse in the first fight?

No, I'm talking about the story in the St. Pete times talking about how he admitted he spoke out of anger after the fight and wanted the rematch.

For a guy who doesn't hate Winky, you're taking this pretty far.

He wants the rematch and has been saying that essentially since the fight.

The first Winky-Taylor fight was good enough I watched it again this past weekend. They definitely need a rematch. Hasn't Winky been after DLH for years?

I really don't get all the complaining.

Taylor's "other options" is a fight he's taking in December. He's said he'd look to fight Wright after that time.

Wright has also said he's going to take a fight in December, and then look to fight Taylor in 2007.

HBO seems to be on par with their ideas as well:

When HBO scheduled Winky Wright and Jermain Taylor to appear on consecutive Saturday's in December, one has to imagine that the network has an eye towards making a Jermain Taylor-Winky Wright rematch in early 2007. Wright is currently scheduled to headline HBO PPV on December 2, and Taylor will fight in Little Rock, Arkansas on December 9 with the Wright replay opening up the telecast, which will also feature Ricky Hatton facing Juan Urango from Atlanta, Georgia.

It doesn't sound like either of them has a problem, both are taking an interm fight, and both say they'll face eachother next year.

Where does the fuss come in?

I think Jermain had the more accurate punches in their fight, but Winky definitely deserves a rematch. I hope it happens.

I would never trust Oscar fighting anyone in his stable.
