Toney can handle Peter's power because he took shots from an ancient Holyfield, a timid Ruiz, a mediocre punching Guinn, an arm punching Rahman, and a complete nobody named Rydell Booker? Says who? That's like saying because someone was a B student in public high school, they will make the dean's list at Harvard.

Toney and his 5'8 1/2" body will crumble under that kind of power. Peter hits about as hard as George Foreman. He catches you flush, and I don't care who you are, your legs do a little dance. Or worse.

If you think a former middleweight can afford to take that man's punches, you're sorely mistaken. Toney will have to fight a careful fight just to go the distance on September 2nd because one punch or sequence of punches will put him on ***** street. He doesn't have the skeletal structure to absorb a guy like Peter's body shots. His little middleweight ribs will give. I guarantee it.

Well this is James Toney not brittle chin Wlad or Lennox.

I dont care if James hasnt been a heavyweight for very long because even if gets cracked and goes down , he'll get up.

His defence alone should prevent him from taking a flush shot.

and dont give me that ****...Rahman can still pack a punch. Slow as Molasses but still gots decent power.

        I promise you however.

If Rahman and Peter both punched a sophisticated and accurate forceometer, Rahman's punches would be nowhere close.

If Rahman took a wild swing at the meter with an Overhand right.....I don't think it would register as high as Peter throwing a stiff jab.

Seeing pictures and reactions from their workout camps have lead me to go with my original statement of picking Peter to win by TKO. Should be an interesting fight no matter what the outcome though.

That also seems to be the general conscensus at the moment as for how the outcome of the fight will result.

You're on 1 bil, it's going in my sig.

done. It's in my sig too.

            Well it's puncher against boxer.

            May the best man win.

True but the whole point of my post ( which i got carried away with ) was to say that Toney will take Peters best shots. Even if he gets floored, i'm sure he'll get up. He's smart and experienced enought to survive any kind of onslaught even while hurt.

Lets just wait and see. I cant wait for this fight.

THe problem is, surviving isn't good enough for some refs. Peter has the perfect style to TKO somebody because the ref will stop the fight when they see the fighter covering up while the heavy hitting Peter throws absolutely monsterous bombs even if they're being mostly blocked.

Well James Toney has been in the game long enough to know all the tricks when it comes to surviving. While covering up is one of them, I'm sure Toney is well schooled in holding, taking a knee, angles, hell even running or spitting his mouthpiece out if he has too in order to gain recovery time.

If Toney is still there after 5 rounds while Peter has spent himself then look for Toney's boxing to take over.

If your hope for a win is based around 2 gigantic If's of If he's still on his feet after 5 and If Peter isn't gassed. Heh, not to mention everybody was talking about Rahman/Toney that if Toney didn't get knocked out he'd easily put on a boxing lesson and win by an easy UD. Didn't work out that way if I recall. Peter winning a UD isn't out of the question if Toney refuses to increase a workrate to impress judges with more than just his impressive defense.
