Still not a win. I don't care if you retain or not, you didn't win the fight, therefore you can't count it as a win. A draw is the same for both fighters, just because he keeps his belt another day doesn't equate it to a win.
Hatton - Collazo... a show of hands

you are right, that 1st round cheap knockout (collazo did not seem hurt at all) hurt him. eventhough the judges had hatton winning the fight by more than 3 points.
which tells you that the only way collazo wins the fight is by a knockout...
collazo was more impressive than hatton that nightComment

Hatton won, stop debating this.
I think that the analysts had it right on this one. Hatton won but it clearly shows that he is best at jr. welterweight. It also shows me that Hatton has a lot of heart and determination to be troubled like he was and end up the victor. Collazo did a good job once he realized Hatton wasn't a dominant performer but it was too late by then. All I can say is that the '07 fight of the year will be Hatton v. Castillo if it happens. Although I believe it's a bad fight for both fighters cause it will probably be a very taxing battle.Comment

Hatton is still a great fighter, even tho I do admit he realizes Collazo is better and will never step in a ring with him again..Collazo won.

Ok, I'm in danger of getting offensive to people here but how the **** can guys have 1000s of posts on boxing websites and still come out with statements such as
"Hatton needed to do more to take the belt, t should have been at least a draw"
or
"How did Hatton win he nearly got ktfu in the last round"
Ok, Diego and Anorak have said it plenty, but one more time.....fights are scored round by round. This means that the guy with more points at the end wins, if it's close and he's the challenger he wins, if he nearly gets knocked out but has more points he wins. The judges shouldn't think at the end 'well he didn't really do enough to take the belt did he.....'. Stop right there judge, just add up your ****ing scorecard (correctly) and that will tell you who won.
On the even rounds issue. I'm not saying there isn't a place for it in rounds with zero action on both sides, but where punches are being landed, judges should do their job and make a judgement. Even though there were close rounds in that fight, you should be able to make a judgement based on what you felt happened.
Thats how the 3 judges at ringside found it, there weren't any drawn rounds on their scorecards.
Clemente - the scores were 115-112 and 114-113 to Hatton if I remember rightly, so 7-5 to Hatton and 6-6 with a KD.
Once again for reference I scored the fight 114-113 for Collazo, but if you're gonna argue that then do it on a solid argument.Comment

I tell you the flash knockdown was a foot on his leg, just how Mora dislocated Johnsons leg. Their style resolves them coming foward hard, immolbizing a boxer to having range or being able to move, by the time Collazo was on his back, Hatton was right ontop of him. It was more of off balance than a knock down..
