alot of the sites did have collazo winning or at least a draw. and the sites aren't biased, most of them tell it how it is...
the point is that hatton won, by the judges eyes. which is the one that counts.
but don't forget, none of those judges had any championship experience.
Boston was home to many hatton fans from england. they were deep that weekend. Boston treated hatton like a king for that week.
it didn't help that hbo just signed hatton for a 3 fight deal. the collazo fight was the first, if he would of lost it would not look good for hbo. everyone knows hbo is a key player in boxing these days.
just take it for what its worth.
why not the rematch?
I wondered how long it would be before that came up. It was the English fans' fault Collazo didn't get the nod.
Seriously, this is what the thread is for... to see who thought Collazo won, as a show of hands. It's a sizeable minority, but still a minority.
Who cares what people vote for now. Fact is after the fight most people in the world felt Collazo won. Almost every web site had a poll and Collazo was ahead on just about all of them if not all. But another fact is Hatton won. I felt Collazo won but *** it, its over. Collazo fans stop being sore losers and Hatton fans stop being sore winners.
Yeah, but the point is, this poll is there for us to vote in hindsight. From watching the fight live, the impression may have been that Collazo won... here we've got the chance to watch it again before voting.
However, shouldn't the champion get the benefit of the doubt if the fight is close and if the challenger doesn't win convincly?
IMO, Hatton did not do enough to win the title and was nearly knocked out in the championship rounds. Collazo should've got the draw and retained the title.
I don't understand this line of thinking at all... the fight is being scored round by round (a fight where Collazo didn't start working effectively till about ISTR the fifth round)... what are the judges going to do? Look at their score sheet for all 12 rounds, see that the champion hasn't got it, and take a couple of rounds off the challenger to make up for it being close?
Having looked at the fight again fairly recently, I would give it to Hatton by a point but in all honesty it was close. It depends on how you score it. Collazo probably landed the cleaner punches but Hatton was coming forward and looked the aggressor more. Mind you, Hatton is more of a wrestler than a boxer and I hope someone knocks the ugly mofo out soon. Hopefully his next opponent.
I had it 114-113 Hatton winning on a terrible KD in the first. He looked good early, but took way too much punishment late, and Collazo was about 12 seconds away from getting a 10-8 round in the 12th and also had a fantastic 11th.
6-6 for rounds, -1 on the KD for Collazo, making it 114-113.

I had it the exact same way, with the KD being the deciding factor. It was a draw if you give 10-8 rounds without a KD which I dont do and even if I did I'm not sure that it was 1 sided enough to be 10-8 since Hatton seemed to recover in the last 3rd of the round.
It was an interesting fight though, too bad it took Collazo 4 rounds to realize that he should box. All politics aside I would like to see a rematch to this exciting fight.
Everyone would agree that a rematch would be great, why don't team hatton do it, they would get better ratings than the fight he's thinking about.... urango?
actually this poll shows that hatton did not win the fight,
if you add the collazo wins with the draws, hatton loses.
don't forget collazo was the champion, he did win the belt against a good fighter in jose antonio rivera

Can't add the Collazo wins to draws, because they're not Collazo wins.
As for a rematch, Hatton's team knew they snuck by a lot closer than expected, and thus, didn't want to danger Ricky's 0 before he could get another Tszyu type fight.
why cant u add them, if the fight was a draw. hatton does not win the belt.
my point is that collazo stays with the WBA 147lb belt. and i guarantee collazo would of gave hatton a rematch wherever he wanted to fight even england.
I scored it for hatton by 1 point. If he did not score that 1st rd KD it should have been a draw although Collazo was far more impressive when he was winning.
