He was KTFO twice. Both times with one single shot.
Although they were hard punches, the fact that he was overconfident and unfocused TWICE in his career as champion to me suggests he wasnt a great champion.
oh come on. no matter how focused you are, a big shot can ko you.
he beat every fighter he ever faced, he dominated a division from
when it was hot right through until its death. he showed that his
losses were mere blips by coming back stronger & he was a beast.

if he wasnt a great champion, then by that standard, theres only
been 2-3 great champions in the history of heavyweight boxing.

only dumb americans (not all americans) think his best wins were over
      holyfield and tyson.

so who did holyfield and tyson beat who were so much better ?

He never fought Bowe, unless your counting the amateur fight, which we really can't, he was also losing to Vitali, fight got stopped because the cut's on Vitali.

Lewis also should've lost to Mercer, which the fight was scored in his favor.

Lewis was a good champion, but I don't consider him an all time great.

micheal spinks was not great, he ws good as a light heavy but not as a heavy
and holmes was way past his prime

he didn't fight boweb ut that is because bowe would rather give up the title than fight lewis!

when he 'lost' to vitali he was fading he was unfocused old and had grossly under-estimated vitali. much like ali vs spinks

Really nobody. Holyfield fought a lot of great fighters, but lost to some of them. Tyson mangled a lot of average-good (not great) guys before he went got locked up and came back a different man. That is why I wouldn't consider Tyson or Holyfield anywhere near an Ali, Foreman, or Frazier, just like I wouldn't Lewis. I think that if Lewis would have fought in that era, he would have been considered a threat, but not among the elite.

Look let me guide you all into my way of thinking

Holyfield - consistent fighter until he was past prime, overall best fighter since Ali
Lewis - More talented than holyfield, but glass chin and weak era.
Tyson - overall probably more gifted than either, but had a very short prime and was inconsistent throughout his 90s career. Also showed up for fights in a bad state.

Tyson was never KO'd by one punch. Neither was Ali. Tyson took a beat down for 10 rounds. Even the withered Ali lasted 11 with Prime Holmes.
Lewis was KO'd not once, but twice with single punches.
