I wasn't saying that Brock wasn't deserving. I was saying that Wlad is and will always go after the fight that he stands a better chance of winning. He already told Briggs he was gonna' get this fight and backed out. Then Briggs, mad at the whole thing signs with DKP. I'm saying that if he wanted to, he could have fought numerous people, and he chose the one who posed the lesser threat to his chin. Again I'm not saying that the Banker don't deserve the shot, I'm saying he is not ready for that shot.Originally posted by KonstantinDid you read the article?? He fought Peter already and won clearly, whats the point of fighting him again? Maskaev is injured. Briggs decided not to wait for Klitchko to decide if he wanted to fight Maskaev and is going to fight Liakovich. Who's left?? Brock. Sure he doesnt stand a chance but hes the most deserving.
Champion: Wladimir Klitschko.
1. Not Rated; 2. Ray Austin; 3. Calvin Brock; 4. Samuel Peter; 5. Sulton Ibragimov; 6. Chris Byrd; 7. Shannon Briggs; 8. James Toney; 9. Lamon Brewster; 10. DaVarryl Williamson.
He's fighting the #3 guy.... do you think Ray Austin would stand a better chance?
Wlad will continue to do this until he is forced to fight some one who has the capabilities to beat him. Then I wouldn't be surprised if he pulls a Vitali and plays hurt for a couple of years just to hold on to that belt.
As far as Peter goes, fighters fight each other numerous times. He chooses not to fight him again because he knows Peter's power and also knows that Peter would be a better and smarter fighter in another fight.
Wlad is a belt holder not a champ. IMO.Comment

More of a business decision then boxing decision.Originally posted by BostonGuyWhy can't Wlad make a fight deal with Don King?
Don King only gives you fights if he has options on you in the future. In other words, if you wanna fight a DK fighter, you have to become one.Comment

Dude has not done **** to deserve a title shot, but has already turned away from it. If he had any brains in his head, he would have waited for as long as possible. But since he is with DK, I really doubt that he will get more money then he was getting when he faught all these bums.
Ya guys keep forgetting that Briggs camp does not hold any ground in this affair. Wlad chooses his first defense, and Briggs was a good fight, unless fight with another champ was possible, then unification is more plausible.
But now he can just be a slave to DK.
Oh, well, he would have gotten KTFO'd anyway.Comment

I don't think the tap-dancing, boxing banker is ready to step up against a fighter like Wlad but, I don't see it as being a total mismatch all the same.
This fight has the potential to obviously test Brock, but to turn out to be a competitive fight for both fighters and hopefully prove to be entertaining as well. We've seen Briggs step up against higher level competition and not succeed, now I would like to see how Brock reacts to this challenge.
If this fight does take place, my prediction is an entertaining championship fight with Wlad winning via late round TKO or UD. If Brock can prove he can hang with Wlad and make it competitive, a loss does not necessarily set him back in his career.Comment

One thing though, I would have prefered to see Wlad/Briggs, but for my egoistic reasons, the fight would have surely happened in MSG. Now, I really doubt it. Maybe in Germany.Comment

Thanks, but how exactly does this option thing work, I've never really paid attention to how the business works?Originally posted by BrooklynBomberMore of a business decision then boxing decision.

When a fight is made, there is a contract, and in the contract the amount of money, venue, etc, is discussed. Both sides can add up things to contract that later they will have to follow.Originally posted by BostonGuyThanks, but how exactly does this option thing work, I've never really paid attention to how the business works?
So DKP can add up a little line here and there that will say that if Wlad beats, lets say, Sergey, DKP will automatically become his promoter. This is really rough explanation, and everything is a bit more complicated, but that is pretty much how it works.Comment
